What is this unknown green light above climate control on my 84?

i have an 1984 4x4 and it has this weird light mounted above the climate control center, it is a long rectangangular light with green in the center and red on the edges. does anybody know what this this is and what it's for.

ya that was my guess to. i will see if i can get a pic of it in the next day or two. i do know that it is factory cause the wires that come from it go to the wire loom and they have a factory disconnect clip also.
