Well my g/f wrecked her '06 civic ex. The civic WAS in perfect shape. She turned in front of someone at a light and he hit her right on the right rear wheel. Damage was $8000. I got the body and suspension work done at a great Honda dealership, and after they welded on the rear panel, the panel lines on the trunk looked great. They also had to put a whole new right rear suspension on. A problem they had was the unibody had bent where the upper a-arm connected. Well they got it all fixed up, it looks and rides great. The blue book "private party value" of her car in excellent condition is $15,990. She might be getting a sales job (w/a car allotment) and will need a SUV. So I'm wondering with the wreck, how much does it depreciate?
Thanks

Are we talking how much she depreciated or the Honda :D. If we are talking about a HONDA then its worthless. :tongueout:

you prob took it down to about 9 or 10k with excellent condition, cars will depreciate fast when hit hard.

off topic: wow neli nice avatar!
On Topic: It is hard to say. As long as the car was properly repaired and still has a clean title you could do okay especially as a private sale. I had a really bad accident with a Dodge Dakota where I got T boned and it knocked the bed almost completely off the frame. Went to prep for sale and did a Carfax search and nothing showed up about the accident at all. I had it repaired by a large completely legit body shop and had an insurance claim from hell.
You never know. I am in no way suggesting that you hide it from a prospective buyer but if they ask tell them what happened and show them the paper work that should also include waranteeing the work of repairs done to the car.

Thanks guys. I hardly ever drove her car (i don't ride with her driving, so we take my car), but to me it drove like I remember it. I looked at it today in the day time and the body shop did a great job.
4runnerchevy- my opinion of her driving skill couldn't depreciate anymore than what I thought of her driving before the accident. Thats why I always drive.

Depending upon how honest you are, you'll need to leverage an incentive to the buyer to do the deal. How much discount would you require to motivate the purchase of a rebuild? I'd say 20-25% of book if the repair was excellent.
