Had another great weekend!! I have about had it with the attitude of the organizers with regards to other than Jeep vehicles :flipoff:, but we still had fun on the run.

The Carne Asada and pyro party on Sat night was a blast.....have you ever seen 3 x-mas trees burn at once?? :smokin:

Thanks to everyone that came, and a big thanks to Mikey for once again hooking up the Carne and bringing the "bling" new grill.

Hopefully others took pics. My batteries died after 1 pic, and my spares were back at camp.

Whats next?? TDS??

my 1 pic...and the trail leader thought we were going to have problems :flipoff:

Glad you guys had fun, while sitting at home all weekend, I couldn't wait to see your guy's pics.

Next time you guys need to have matching tshirts and they will treat you better, lol.

Marc! Yep, the attitude... I appreciate the SD4wheelers for spending $20k to put this on. We need that kind of unity, but the 'tude does get old. I was on a 2 run with inexperienced people in high dollar capable trucks so I have some fun story-age to tell.

Mine started when I showed up. I was airing down and disconnecting my sway bar disconnects. This guy asked me how far did I want to go? I was like "what are my options?" not realizing he was talking about how low I wanted to air down my tires. I was warned my tires were too hard and I would get stuck in the sand. Well guess what, I did not get stuck when we made our first stop at some sand bowl on Rabbit's foot.

The safety tech is like, "What, no tow points?". Come AWWWWWN! I have two of my over priced D-Ring anchors with D-rings and hook points on the rear frame. I had to tell him to look under the truck!

Now bear in mind there are some core newbies on this run. Our trail leader who did a very good job was letting us play in the sand to get a feel for what our vehicles could do. A bit later he advised us to check our gauges because 4 wheeling is hard on an engine. I was like, "Tim! My temp gauge is way way way way up towards ... the middle!" :)

Upon leaving the sand hole, the jeep in front of me high centers and gets stuck. I pull him off. No worries I figure.

We actually took a few off shoots there were challenging. The first was a rocky climb that ended up on a steep sandy climb to a plateau. I figured if I'm to need help, I'll follow the most capable vehicle/driver, the leader. Tim spots me up the trail (bless Tim but he has not quite gotten into the internet or digital cameras. He's a hell of a fabricator and 4 wheeler though and a great guy too. I have no pics though). I make through all the hard stuff, worn 31's, open diffs and all, and get stuck at the top where the sand is steep and fluffy. We try about 5 angles but I can't build momentum so I need a tow. The trail leader's wife says something to the effect of, "Are 4runner's bad trucks?" I'm sure he explained that my stock pizzas aren't cut out for this. (that was bad...) To bring home some justice, just about all the other trucks had a hard time or needed to get a tow at the top. You just needed some fat tires to stay a float.

We continued on and I followed the leader through another hard section (well for my truck). I high centered on the top but the trail leader had me take a different line and I made it. He really was a good spotter and trail boss. I give him props. Here, that jeep that I pulled off of the high center got owned bad. He couldn't find a line to save his life. Turns out he left his sway bars connected! What gives? He had new mudders, solid axles, he should have walked through there. Afterwards, this yellow FJ hit the rock I was standing on when I took this picture... hard. He was not happy.

Well the run fun. I wish I could have wheeled with you guys. I'm going to be gearing/tire-ing soon with a Truetrac in the mix for fun. Maybe in March we can all hook up again. Here are more of my few pictures.

The carne was OUTSTANDING! I was sooooo hungry. It didn't help I prepared for the trip the night before by consuming large quantities of rum at a friend's birthday. ;-) I was a little slow getting going Saturday morning.

Oh and one last thing. Doetsch prerunner (8000 series) shocks are great! Their little extra bumptop/bushing means you can flog your girl a lot harder without bottoming out. They didn't fade at all either.

Killer trip!!!!!!!!!!! One of these times I'll have to actually take some pics. Gracias to
Miguel para el fiesta del carne. Those potlucks are definately the way to go. Had a great time on the trail but next year would like to try and get all the Toys on the same run. Tilted Table E/W turned out to be a run that could keep all parties happy - locked or not. I spotted some folks that came through with open diffs and no armor. Next year. I now have a legitimate need for a rear u-bolt flip kit as the underside of both rear shock washers have been basically sheared off. Sweet. In regards to the Heepers - it's just that lack of self-esteem that comes with owning a jeep which makes them so aggro towards the SUPERIOR RACE OF TOYOTA.

Hopefully someone else has more pics...........

well i had a nice event report wrote up but i timed out and lost it all :flipoff:. so this is what you get. i like what SD4wheelers is doing to keep trails open but... the safety check guy was trying to tell me part of my emissions system was a 2nd batter . i had fun meeting every one and burning the Xmas trees. Ty every one that brought stuff for the potluck and all the trees i think we had about 7 Xmas trees to burn. as far as my trail report it sucked. i did the lost dutchman run. my trail leader had no clue how to find the lost dutchman :headscratch:. i think i had more fun when i went back out later with just Marc and rob. next yr I'm doing TT with everyone else. sun day the wife drove and did the SUV run so she could do some wheeling for the first time. she had lots of fun. since my run sucked the only pics i got was from when we stopped to eat and the TT grp went by.

Pics look good.

Rob the tires look real good.

So bummed to miss this but what can you do. We both were sick and it would have sucked even worse out there.

Hopefully not the last chance I get to wheel with the group as a whole (not hole) before heading north.

More Pics please!

Even though I was a back seat driver, I still had a blast as always. The Jeeper attitude was something else this year, especially with the comments about the Hummer, FJ-Buggy and Pinz... totally unnecessary. They showed up late to the run so they were purposely excluded by the tail gunner and were told to bugga off because they might not enjoy themselves. Silly Jeepers lets just go 4-wheeling. Looks like a real fun time, I'm bummed I had to miss it again. Its crazy how nieve those heepers area about anything other than their own little world of short squat fourwheelers. So far no carnage reports from anyone in our crew? Thats great.

Hey, I got some pics too! Mikey and I spanking them Jeeps. Best just to ignore the attitude. They are kinda like Harley owners, all pumped up until they ride a dirt or sport bike, and find some real performance...

First pic (if I get it loaded right) is the RoboToy on a tow truck. We burned the right front wheel bearing 6 miles from home. AAA guy shows up with a 12 TON flat bed, then proceeds to back over a curb and hi centers his rear axle over the curb, STUCK. He fiddles for 10 min, then Russ says, 'Uncle Jim, why don't you strap him off the curb with yer truck?' So, guess what? It worked! My 3,000 pound FLAT BED snaps the 25,000 FLAT BED tow truck off the curb. Then he loads me up, and take me home. Whew, what a day!!

On sunday AM, we ran Knock on Wood, AND we got a GPS track, which I need to email to Marc. It's an awesome run, AND I think most of our lifted & armored trucks CAN run it. So, maybe we can plan another trip with our crew...

As for the gps route, would that work on most map softwear. I have National Geographic TOPO. If you get it downloaded maybe you could email it to me.

I found the Jeep folks in our runs to be pretty good guys. Some were very knowledgeable with super built rigs. I didn't hear any stupid comments. I think the more experience they have, the more they are wised up, and realize that there is more than one way and build and drive a rig. On Saturday's Broken Arrow, our tailgunner had a hardcore rig just like Mikey's. He has cleaned every trail on the mountain, and all the SD4Wheel Jeep guys know it.

As far as GPS goes, I'm still learning how to use it (Garmin 60CSx). But, I got some good tracks, just need to edit them, and email to you guys. For non-Gramin, I think the tracks can be edited into Lat/Long waypoint lists if necessary.

PM Robt2k about the bumper...it was originally on Feartoy's 3rd gen, but it was burned a few years ago. I believe Camburg originally made it.
