Well I have always noticed this since the first time I ever engaged 4Lo in my 4Runner.
It just doesn't see normal to me.
So what I did was record the actions of both 4Hi and 4Lo on the same hill with the same amount of throttle applied to each.
This is mainly for the 3rd Gen crowd with Auto transmissions, 3.4l engine, and 4.10 gear ratio.

Here is the hill

Second Video 4Lo

If I am just being to over cautious please tell me, but it just doesn't seem right to me.

Seems normal to me, what part do you think is odd? Give us a little better explanation of what you think is "not right" and lets go from there. Not sure what I am watching for in the video, it seems normal, but I could be missing what you're talking about.

It feels like its not even gripping when I have it in 4lo, I feel that the engine and transmission speed have to be up to 10mph before the actual t-case moves the truck at all.
It lurches once it catches, I mean i know its no crawler case but this is why I wheel in 4Hi mostly, cause I can't feather my skinny pedal in 4Lo cause it wont make a difference.

My friends 95 (I know different year) didn't seem to do this.
Hell even the Xterra I drove didn't seem to do this.

But then again it could just be me...

My 4lo moves at idle. If I put it in first gear, and 4Lo, as soon as I come off the clutch she is off to a shuddering start. I have little doubt that the hill you just drove up my '84 would idle up the whole hill without issue in 4Lo.

Thats the thing Chris, when I am at idle its like I am in neutral.

Avy,
The video seemed normal... nice driving gloves! lol
I will go get in mine and see what it does compared to your last post description. "To Be Continued"

So when you put it in "D" while in 4L it isnt moving. Does it feel like the trans is slipping? As soon as i put it in drive it lurches forward.

Hey Avy - just out of curiosity... check your tranny fluid, and t-case fluid tell me if its low, and what it looks like...

The red and full, I had them all changed out the week before I got hit Chris.

To answer Gil's questions (we talked in Chat) it initially Lurches to gear but then stands still, and I am on flat ground.

Well thank you all for the reassurance that I don't have a bum t-case.
