my 02 2wd auto(w/155k mi) has developed some strange vibrations.

it started with accelerating after 35mph and cruising at hiway speeds. could feel in the gas pedal but not the brake. not present under deceleration.
feels like its in the front end...

after checking the driveline(u-joints feel solid) it has changed to declerating and less at cruising(smoother at speed) and not under accelration.
if i ease off the pedal the vibration doesnt appear.

under deceleration if i drop it into N (to idle RPM)the vibrations dont flucuate or stop...

 suggestions on what to check next??? :headscratch:

im going to have the tires rotated and re-balanced later this week.

change the ujoint anyway... 99% sure that's your issue. what you describe was solved by changing a ujoint in my 4r that had the exact same symptoms.

ya im with lee, you say you checked the joints but what you describe deff sounds like a u joint. have you greased them and the drive shafts lately?

stock.

they were greased about 30K ago.
when the rain stops ill get back and take a better look. cant hurt to change :D

its what i thought at first, but when it changed from acc to decel, it made me think it was something else...
