OK Here is the official planning thread for the Yosemite trip. I will update this post with information as time goes on and people confirm.

Details:

Dates:
Thursday to Wednesday, September 18-24...I know 6 nights is a long time, but we have the condos for the week. Feel free to come and go as you need.

Location:
We're staying at Worldmark Bass Lake. The resort is located about 10 minutes from the offroad trails and about 30-45 min from Yosemite Valley. All the condos have 2 bedrooms with a pull down murphy bed in the living room. All are equipped with a full kitchen and a bbq. Sorry, dogs are not allowed, but I will check into boarding arrangements if you are interested. There is also a pool and jacuzzi at the resort so bring your swimsuits!

Costs:
The cost of the condo will be $50/adult for the whole week. This is based on 6 adults per condo. It could potentially go up a little (like $60/adult) if people start bailing at the last minute.

The National Park fee for Yosemite is $20/ vehicle and is good for 1 week.

Schedule:
We're doing it choose your own adventure style. Some may want to do more hiking or fishing (Bob and Lance...hehehe) than wheeling. We can decide what we want to do as time goes on or even leave til we get up there. I do know that I would like to have at least one big dinner all together while we're there. Probably on Saturday night.

Activities:
I'll post up more info later...don't have time or a scanner right now.

The List: I'll add your name as your confirm that you're going
(JnJ) Justin, Jenn and Caity
(cooldry) David +1
(Good Times) Lance +1
(Seanz0rz) Sean +1?
(Tracker) +5
(slosurfer) Chris +3
(stormtaco) +1
(traxman25) Adam
(elripster) Frank +1
(net4n6) +4
(reggie00) +2

Post up if I've forgotten anything. This is my first time planning one of these. :D

Thanks for setting all this up Jenn. You can count me in +1. Most likely I won't be able to stay for the entire time but most of it. I was wondering if dogs are allowed?

Sorry I've been MIA the last few days...I was in Vegas. :D

David, to answer your question...dogs are not allowed at the resort. I have heard that there is place to board you dog near by that has an in and out policy. If you are interested in going that route, I could check into it for you. Just let me know.

Chris, the cost will be $50 per adult if we can get 6 adults per unit. It could potentially be a little higher (like $60 or so/adult) if people start bailing out at the last minute. This price is for the week not per day.

By the way...I was thinking about trying to keep all the families with kids together in one or 2 condos and the couples/singles in another. How do you all like this idea?

Jen, that sounds great! We are definately in for some of the time if not all. Who wants to board with us, we'll have the kid who wakes up every few hours to eat? :D

I so hope we can make this. The 4runner got new gears and a Truetrac this weekend.

I'm going to be out of town but when I get back the 19th of March Claire and I are going to take a little road trip in the new Saturn Vue and swing by Yosemite. I have to believe we will at least be able to swing a few days if not the whole time.

Haha I was just thinking about this today. Not much, really. I have 3 two bedroom condos (they sleep 6) booked. My big question right now is to those who have already posted up...are you still going? and for those that are coming part of the time, which days are you coming?

Chris (slosurfer) and Sean I already have your times down. Thanks for repsonding the last time I asked this!

I'm trying to get stuff together for this.
Its going to be a last min type thing.

My Brother just left the company to go be a CHP officer so i am scrambling to get things back in order so i can carry on doing my stuff.

I would love to come for the week, probably wont happen, but i can dream.
Put me down for the week, and let me know when i need to kick down the funds.
If i get down for the week cool if not at least i can help keep the cost down for everyone else.

Jenn, does your book have the Iron and Star Lakes Trails? I'm trying to find info on them, looks like they may be fun.

What other trails were you looking at?

Also, the couple with the daughter Jack's age, should let us know by the weekend if they are going.

Thanks again for setting this up.

YotaGirl
08-21-2008, 08:52 AM
Chris, my book has the Iron Lake trail, but not the Star trail.

Looking at the Backcountry Adventures book for Nor. Cal. there seems to be about 16 trails we can possibly run while up there. Most of the trails have a difficulty rating of 3 out 10 but there are a couple that have a 5 or 6 (one being the Iron Lake trail). Also, most of the trails have a scenic rating of 8-10 out of 10. There are a couple trails that go along ridges above Yosemite Valley and look to provide spectacular views.

I don't easily have access to a scanner so I can't get copies of these pages on the board.

I have to take Caity to gymnastics right now...I'll post up more info when I get home.

slosurfer
08-21-2008, 04:18 PM
No problem, Jenn. I think I'm going to pick that book up anyways. I can find info on Iron Lakes, but I'm haveing trouble finding info on the star lakes one. It sounds similar but slightly longer. I'm going to try my local club, as a guy is running those trails in Oct., maybe he has info on Star Lakes.

A couple more years and Caity will be old enough for the Chinese olympic team.

Count me in, I just won't be staying at the condo because I want to bring my dog with. I reserved a tent site at Lupine-Cedar Campground about 4 miles south on the west shore of Bass Lake (Lupine-Cedar to Worldmark Club at Bass Lake (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Rd+222%2FS+Shore+Rd+%4037.308576,+-119.545738&daddr=53134+Road+432,+Bass+Lake,+CA+93604+(Worldma rk+Club+At+Bass+Lake)&hl=en&geocode=2289110149917171762,37.308576,-119.545738%3B4489630733308626255,37.334191,-119.580028&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=37.195254,-119.555932&sspn=1.46148,2.460938&ie=UTF8&z=14))

If anyone wants to sit around a campfire in the evening they are welcome to stop by (the softer, more metro types can then run back for a shower and a soft bed) :flipoff:

Cool, sound like we'll get to hang around a campfire after all. :)

Jenn, looks like one of the local club members is going to copy me their info on Star Lakes and Shuteye Pk.also he has info on a stand of redwood trees that has a tree possibly larger than the General Sherman tree.

Jenn, I've got a question about what the condos already have there. Do they have basic kitchen supplies (pots, pans, eating utensils, plates, etc...)? What about bedding, should we bring our own?

Since you've done this before and you have a kid, what do you suggest bringing that we might not think of?

Also, just because I noticed them:
:wrenchin: :loser:

Haha, those smilies are awesome!

YotaGirl
09-08-2008, 01:44 PM
lol fun smilies!

Chris, the condos have everything...kitchen supplies, bedding, washer/dryer, dvd players...etc.

You could bring some movies for the kiddos if you want! :) We can get food at the grocery store in Oakhurst. Oh and bring swimsuits and floaties for the pool!

slosurfer
09-08-2008, 02:23 PM
Awesome! This is going to be cool!
We'll probably bring a pan for Jack's cake, just incase, or maybe a cupcake pan.
I'll definately bring some dvd's for the kiddos and some for the adults as well.

Sean, you should probably leave your adult movies at home though. :flipoff: :tongueout:

Seanz0rz
09-08-2008, 02:34 PM
psh, like i pay for that stuff... haha.

i will be bringing a few movies that dont have kazoos in them, stuff rated other than G.

time to get some new swim trunks... last time i went swimming was... 3 years ago?

oh and NO, i will not be buying a speedo... :shrek: :sissies:

Is there still room available at the condo? My puppy hurt his foot and can only hop around, so he probably won't be too happy going on a road trip with wheeling afterward. Liz said she'd stay at home and spend all my money if I still wanted to go, but I can't really see packing everything up and camping by myself . . .

YotaGirl
09-17-2008, 02:13 AM

working on getting all the pictures uploaded.

as for wheelin, we went to one trail on sunday, it was fun but not challenging at all. very scenic though. and i guess people went yesterday on a much harder trail (still easy by our standards) though i was not there for that, had to move into my apt.
