Alright, as i've mentioned i've been working on a lil supprise. well it is finally all put together! I am renting a 12x30 shop, i've picked up a 97 4runner with 156k on the clock. it was a quick roll over and landed on its feet. the motor runs just fine. it looks like i'll be able to sell at least 2 if not 3 door, the hood, and the interior parts. However, I'm thinking of swaping the dash and center console into my 2nd gen. heres some pics.

 I will also be watching this build. It looks like fun. Do you plan on rebuilding the motor to start fresh? I realize its a Toyota, so you'll probably get another 100K+ out of her.

I'll be tuned in to watch this as it progresses too.

Obviously if you need motor info, there's alot in my old thread here as well:

work has been busy, so i'm so drained by the time i get home i dont feel like working on it. I have removed a bunch of more stuff and gotten shelves and a couch for the shop. (give the GF'ss a place to sit :D) this weekend is suppose to be nice, i'm hoping to have the tranny dropped and the motor out.

ok i'll stop being a tease.... so a year and a half after i blow up my 3.0 the turck is back on the road..kinda. I still need to finish the little stuff front ARB hooked up, install front drive line, get alignment, make battery tray, get exhaust hooked up, put it back on insurance, get current tags, etc etc. BUT it runs and drives at this point. I about 3 months ago i got one of the last if not the last ORS kit made, it was a very complete kit..... the hang up was trying to find a 3.4 5sp motor wiring harness. the motor i bought was from an auto, so i bought an 97 5sp ECU but the plugs were different... after rediscovering i had a $100 to the dealership, and a 45 min phone call were i was arguing with the parts department that it IS POSSIBLE to put a 3.4 in a 94 4runer, and $263 going on the visa a new wiring harness was ordered.

The motor swap started thrusday evening. i had to drag the big runner back to the shop, get the tranny pulled. Friday morning Vital22 drove down to help me and by buddy jason. HUGE PROPS go out to vitaly... with out him this would have taken 3 times as long. but 2 days and 5 trips to autozone later the truck backed out of the shop under its own power.. also want to thank al for coming up and helping wrench on it as well. it was a fun weekend. thanks again!

the IRS is a $40 autozone special, custom made to fit. my inital reaction to the swap is i LOVE IT! i only got to drive it around the shop complex but it was enough for me to fall in love with my truck again.... i'll have a better road report later today :D

on to the pics and video :D:D:D:D

I love the sound of the 3.4l without a muffler, it does sound sick
Every time I have a phase end for school i will unbolt the muffler and drive the truck to school like that just for shits and giggles, but oh does it sound beautiful.

Congrats man!
Now button her up and go wheelin already, though make a snorkel for the first...
Didn't you hydro lock your 3.0?

Oh man, I wish I could have heard that conversation where you had to convince the dealership that it would fit. You should have made a bet with the guy and then driven it down there.

Looks Good. I think that once you swap a 2nd Gen 4Runner, dropping a 3.4 is the only way to make it run well, there is only so much gearing you can throw it at.

The dealer and parts house torment is fun. At places where they have to look it up by application, I tell thme what it is for and they get all jacked up.

A while ago I took it in for the relay rod TSB. Swapped truck with custom axles and a 3.4 made some eyebrows raise but others had no idea.

Great work!
