I went down to St. George with a couple of my roommates this weekend to do some climbing and camping and just get out of the cold weather/snow. It was a ton of fun.
Quick Summary-
Day 1: Drove down to St. George and finally found our campsite (Located off of Old US 91) and realized we were completely alone from everything...which was AWESOME. Set up camp and went to bed early.
Day 2: Drove around St. George a little and went climbing at Black Rocks. A fun place to climb and it was good to finally get to test out my new shoes on some real rock. Ended up climbing until dark and being the last ones there. Drove back out to the place we camped but found a spot higher up on a different hill. Made some good foil dinners and went to bed exhausted from climbing for over 6 hours.
Day 3: Woke up early and made bacon, eggs, and pancakes for breakfast. Hiked around a little and found a little man-made cave on the side of a hill. Drove down to Las Vegas and hung out at my roommates grandparents summer house for until after dinner. We were going to camp at Red Rock Canyon, but decided against it (Actually had to pay for it haha and it was really busy) so we went to the strip and walked around the casinos. Found out my truck is taller than 7 feet tall with a roof rack on and got yelled at by all the people trying to come in the garage while I turned around in the single lane avoiding smashing my rack on the cross beams. We only stayed at the strip for about an hour because it was just crowded and we smelled like campfires and dirt and got weird looks. Drove back to the campsite from night 1 and went to bed.
Day 4: Woke up early and made some breakfast burritos and packed up camp. Went back up to Black Rocks and climbed some more. Ended up almost seriously injuring a lot of people when I had a bigger than soccer ball size rock break off under my feet while climbing and falling over 25 feet. We ended up pulling out the rest of the loose rock safely just so that some unsuspecting person wouldn't have the same thing happen and have something horrible happen. Climbed for a long time, made lunch at a gas station out the back of the truck, and then headed home.
It was an awesome trip and well worth all the gas money we spent haha. Pictures to follow.
