My 98 has 156k on it, and the 2.7 has developed a shake at idle. Not a misfire, but it kinda seems like a collasped engine mount. Like i said, definitely not a misfire.

I figure that the truck is 10 years old, and it has alot of miles on it. Heck, it even has the orginal belts on it. I looked at the mounts, and saw nothing definite. I forsee a new set of engine mounts in its future, but was wondering if anyone else had any other experiences with it.

I did finally get around to swapping out the green bulbs in the dash for the 5 leds from superbrightleds.com today, and new shocks/springs are in the near future also. Its starting to get the love that it hasn't gotten lately.

As always, thanks for the replys...

Check out the tranny mount, and rear u-joints (if your moving). These have also been known to cause a shimy.

What I am looking to fix is the vibration at idle, not the one i have while driving. But I will take a closer look at the trans mount, and may replace that one before I do the engine mounts, as it looks alot easier to do, and probably has collasped some over the years.
Thanks for the reply.

my vote includes motor and transmission mounts then idle air control valve (clean or replace)

You should be able to tell the difference between a bad motor or tranny mount and an engine issue. If it is indeed the motor it might be the IAC, but I can't help much more without seeing it in person.

Well, I don't think it's an actual engine problem. When I shift the trans into neutral, it settles down. That's why i think its a mount issue. I've had the IAC off a few times to clean it and the throttle body out. And the truck is not throwing any codes.

Besides Toyota, is there any place out there that sells decent engine/trans mounts?

Thanks again
