TDS was a good time as always this year, even though Mark and I were the only UY rigs out there.
My brothers and I headed out Friday afternoon. We took the Rodriguez Truck Trail down to the desert and then ran through Arroyo Seco Del Diablo. This put us over Diablo dropoff and out through Fish Creek. We set up camp in O-wells and spent a couple hours night wheeling around the blow sand area.
Saturday morning I drove north through o-wells up toward Truckhaven to meet Mark. We spent the rest of the morning playing on the ridges and crawling the canyons of Truckhaven. It was amazing how many built Toyota's there were out there. Most of the guys in their shop built Rubicons hung around the o-wells camp, but all the home built contraptions were playing in the notches and hill climbs at TH. Mark and I drove back through o-wells and hung out Toms house for a little. He's a pretty cool guy, and had one of the most interesting yards I've ever seen. Mark got some cool new bling for his rig along the way too :smokin: . I vote we plan a wrenching party for gold runner soon.
That evening/night got nasty windy, and it seemed like the whole desert was flying through the air. The sand and wind didn't seem to put a dent in raffle attendance though. But I know everyone will be shaking sand out of everywhere for at least a week.
Sunday morning my bros and I headed back through fish creek and played a little in sand stone canyon. It gets preytty intense back there and was alot of fun. We also hiked around a little in Canyon Sin Nombre before hitting pavement for the ride home.
I got to put my new suspension and tires to the test on this trip, and they work like a dream.
Now lets see if I can put up a few pictures.
