just picked up a set of 315 mt/r's. they will hopefully be going on this week, but may be next week until i can get to them. i was at discount tire today and took a 315 bfg a/t from the shelf and set it on my rim to get a feel of what i was in for. even with the oem 16x7 and stock backspacing, they fit great with room to spare...in the rear (makes me think i could run 37x1250s in the back with no modification :headscratch:) in the front, the a arms are my biggest problems. i will be getting some 1" adapters, but could suffice with 1/2" spacers. anyways, here's a pic until i can get it all done, i'll update once everything's done.

You'll have to trim a little for the rear. I can't imagine those things stuffing all the way w/o it hitting the side panels of the bumper... Well, thats what mine does. ;)

Here... I had to cut 1.5" or so from the side bumper panels.

its not about what will fit, its about what will work. as sd4runner said, stuffing is an issue.... not sure if youre planning on actually wheeling w them though. :)

sawwwwzalll Lee, its the answer to everything. actually id rather use a jig.
he'll fit em, ill be down there sometime this week during my little expeditino around the country (aka chicago, new york city (maybe), VA, SC, GA, florida, texas, LSU booty call (woops).
so ill test flex them
like i said, its not about what will fit (you can fit 40's with a sawzall ) but its about whether your wheeling requires it and whether your truck can flex those tires.
no offense or anything but it doesnt appear his truck gets wheeled all that hard considering that stock tinfoil rear bumper is looking good.

no offense taken, 17 hours of school with 20 hours of work isn't leaving me anytime to venture, there sure is hell isn't anything to go for within 2 hours of here. these are going to be road queens for a while, if i planned on wheeling asap i would hold off until the regear happens with the f&r lockers. one step at a time!!!! but yeah, for now this one's strictly for looks

sawzall helps 35s fit.
tubbing the rear and front wells helps 40s even clear, different story.
he knows what he wants
the only reason id ever run those tires on stock gears would be if i needed them bc i wheeled all the time but didnt have gear money, thats all im saying :)
i dont see much point in 35's on a non wheeling rig, i know he knows what he wants, but its ok for me to share what i think too.. it's a message board :)

gotcha
do you drive much? is this worth the hit in gas? id just buy some decent 33's, run em for a while till you save up money for gears and lockers, then sell the 33's and put that $ into 35's and gears/lockers :)

he had decent 33's lookin at his pic. if he's anything like me he's spendin the money now because he wants them and well eventually get everything else he need to run the properly but if he doesn't get them now he'll spend the money on something else and never end up getting what he wants... just a thought...

Putting wants and needs aside, I am really sorry you guys are doing bodywork with a Sawzall.
There are a bunch of people who run 35's and fill the rear wheelwells out completely. Any bigger and you are doing more than a little trimming.
After DDing a rock crawler for 2 years, I have a pedal bike and will no longer do things to trucks that negatively impact road drivability when that is how they are used.

315 MT/R's look badass on a black 3rd gen. 1/2" spacers wont be enough to clear the front. go with at least an inch. if its your DD/hwy cruiser...you'll probably want to rethink not regearing though, esp if youre on stock 410's and auto (im assuming). it wasnt long before i regeared when i put my 315's on..and that was with 4.30's before. 'till you regear..the novelty will wear off. put an aux tranny cooler on though.
but cant blame ya for wanting something meat though...run whatcha like..it does look good.
had i known before what i know now, i would have run 2 sets of tread on my runner...since it does see alot of road use as well as alot of heavy trail use. i'll definitely be running 2 sets on the cruiser though...

i plan on having a dd in the next year or so, i'm not too worried about the city driving...i almost feel like its worth it to pay :) and for the tires, i snagged them off of craigslist for 300 bucks, 80% tread, evenly worn, no plugs/patches....it was just too good of a deal to bypass, and i have a definite buyer for my a/t's for 500 bucks and its local, too many things added up haha

that looks real sexy! What are the specs on your wheels? I like the way your tires don't stick out of the wheel well too much to where it makes the truck look like a box on giant tires.

I think my 265/75/16s stick out of the fender well more than your 315s do.. i have the same exact truck, 97 sr5 black with the trimmings removed. Im running a 16x8 with 4.5" bs and I think 0 offset.. man that looks good
