I have gotten myself in a pickle... I love my wheels but they have like 1.5" more backspacing than the original toyota wheels... I have 32 x 11.50 x 15 bfg's on an 8.5" wide wheel... I am going to be lifting the 4runner about 2" and I want to get a taller tire... I was thinking 33 x 12.50 bfg mud terrains, but with my backspacing, I'm not sure it would clear the fenders when I'm wheeling or look good sticking out that far... so then I thought 33 x 10.50 bfg mud terrains, but with that skinny of a tire, I thought it might look really weird with that much backspacing... I'm eventually going to put in a 3.4L, so the other option would be 35 x 12.50 bfg mud terrains, I'm not sure if they would fit though, with only 2 more inches of lift...

Anyways, I just want to get some opinions...

here's some pics of the tires and wheels I have, so you guys can see how it sits now...

I would stuff 35's at whatever the cost, but I don't own your year. I also think you should post some side shots of your truck to give a better view.

important to remember that suspension lift does not mean you can run larger tires. upward travel of the tires is still the same, and may contact body panels.

just a fyi. to run 33 or 35, you will have to cut.

I would love to have 35's but that would have to include the new engine or new gears.

Here's some side pics...

you'll be able to tuck the 33 12.50's i have about the same width with my 305's same as 33 12.50's and they just clear but it looks way good. i didn't have to trim at all.

heres how mine sits:

I run 35 x 12.5 on a 8" MICKY THOMPSON wheel look just like your's with a 3.75 backspace and a 4" suspention lift and only did a small 3-4 inch trim on the pinch weld near the rear of the tires took like 5 min for both sides with a whiz wheel. They stick out about as much as yours maybe a bit more not much and don't look to bad and will stuff fairky well. Here's a few pics you can get an idea of how it looks and oh ya I did regear to 5.29's

I love the way the 35's look.... do you know any measurements on your 4runner? like from the center of the hub to the fender or from top of the rim to the fender? I'm just wondering how far that is from where mine sits already...

top of rim lip to bottom of fender lip is 19" with a 4"lift

that's what I figured... I knew there was no way I'd fit 35's with just 4 more inches from where mine sits... mine measures 13.25" right now... thanks for the info

Do you know what the backspacing is on the wheels? If it is 3.75", that is optimal for fitting 33x12.5x15 with the least amount of rubbing.

thanks, that helps a lot...

I couldn't measure very well, but I think that it is somewhere around 3.75"....

oh and I must be measuring wrong, but my 15" rims measured out to be 16", does anybody know why...

If you were to measure where the tire actually sits on the rim, it would be 15", so with the lip on the rim it probably is 16"

4" BS was the rule I had always heard.

You are going to need to trim the back of the front wheel wells, the 2" lift means nothing if you don't mess with bumpstops and disconnect the front swaybar.

35's with whatever drivetrain that is not a 3.4 are going to be crappy with gas and power.

33's with a 1" bodylift is pretty tried and true.

As far as sticking out, my truck is a lot like a rollerskate and I like it.
