anyone know if 4.30 diffs (f&r) out of a tacoma fit directly on an 01 4runner?

im 99% that the front diff can just go right in, but will the rear GEARS fit into an 01 4runner 3rd??

taco is a 4cyl, 4wd, non trd, no abs, manual trans

4runner is 6cyl, abs, awd, auto trans

thanks.

Front is same.

If the Taco was open rear, then it is the bigger, girdled third that I call as do others, the Tundra diff and will not fit.

If it is e-locked from the Taco, then it will only fit an e-locked runner housing which would not be in an 01.

Open Taco=Tundra=T-100

E-locked Taco=E-locked Runner

Open Runner=Almost everything not mentioned already

gotcha. the plans ended up falling through anyway

seems the front diff on the 01 i sold went on the new owner, so i was trying to hook him up with my friend's 4.30's out of his taco, but i guess its too much money and effort....

thanks for the info, that was what i suspected :(

My understanding is dimensionally, the Tundra diff, the open Taco and the Runner are the same diameter, not sure about thickness, pinion depth, etc.

An open Taco rear will have the same gears as a Runner.

This is sounding like a lot of work for a cheap or free deal. Look for the right stuff.

yeah i know what it sounds like but im trying to help 2 people get what they want

one a fixed vehicle (steering rack being included in the deal so for the price of just a front diff at a junkyard, the guy is getting front diff with 4.30's, steering rack and rear gears), one sold parts and money to continue a sas :)

I know you gotta do what you gotta do, but...

I would also hesitate to reset stock gears in a different housing on a high street mileage truck. You will never get the pattern EXACTLY the same, blah blah.

Good luck.
