Addendum
Out of all my write ups, I get more questions from this write up than any of them combined. So to clear the air, this write up is written for my 1998 4Runner with an RS3000 remote. If you have a RS3000 alarm system for your Camry, RAV4 or any other Toyota vehicle, I have no idea if this will work with your vehicle.

In addition, if your remote is not black like the one pictured below, you probably have the wrong remote. Many owners purchase the grey remote off eBay and it doesn't work. I did that too, so I speak from experience. Thus, get the black remote.

Lastly, if your "brain unit" is not under your driver's side seat, I have NO CLUE where it is or might be. If you download the pdf install manual (below), the standard installation place for the RS3000 is under your driver's seat. So I mercifully ask you not to email me "Where's my brain unit?" because I really have no way of knowing.

Summary
This brief write up is based on reprogramming a RS3000 Remote. When I purchased my 4Runner, it came with a faulty alarm but I found this one for sale. Of course there are way better alarms, but I just wanted one that would "plug and play". I had some extra remotes I wanted to program so with remotes in hand and my alarm operations manual in hand, I went out to the 4Runner.

In case you don't have it, here are two excellent .pdf versions of the RS3000 alarm install and RS3000 operations manuals:

RS3000 alarm install manual (http://4runners.org/image/rs3000/4RAlarm%20Install.pdf)
RS3000 operations manual (http://4runners.org/image/rs3000/4RAlarm%20Manual.pdf)

Step 1: Keys, Remote, and a Pen
The first step is to locate the "brain" of the RS300 alarm system. It should be located directly under the driver's seat. You may have to unbolt your driver's seat to see it (picture below). Also, put your key in the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position:

I've unbolted the seat, cut the zip tie, and repositioned the unit with the green button facing towards the back of the 4Runner

Put your key in and turn the ignition to the "ON" position

Step 2: Programming Time
Locate the green button on the side of the brain unit. Press the green button on the side of the brain unit. Hold it down for about 3 seconds and then you will see the LED on your alarm interface light up a constant red:

Press this green button...

...and the LED light will light up a constant red

Within the next 10 seconds, do the following:

Press the top button on your remote.

The LED light should turn off (no action required here)

Turn the key to the "LOCK" position

Your alarm remote is now reprogrammed.
