Im going to say that its a charcoal canister and part of the smog crap. Yeah? I need to remove it. Just get rid of it all together. Can i just plug off the hoses/lines? Anyone have any experience with this? TIA.

Evaporative Cannister. If this is a vehicle with an ECU and gets smogged, it won't pass without that stuff.

Wont pass the visual inspection or wont pass emission testing? Will it throw a CEL?

Probably both. And based on Cheese's post about his fault code for his 3.4L swap, yes it will throw a code.

Alright, that answers that. I guess it stays. I just remember pulling the equivalent part/system on my old Gixxer and there were no problems. Totally different systems but i though it was worth asking. Thanks guys.

He farted too much in the truck and now no one will buy it.
Just as well, now he can wheel with the SoCal crew.

Definately will throw a CEL......not sure on smog test but not likely to pass that either.

that has to be a latter gen3 specific part, as i dont have one on my truck (based on that cross member location and such) however, that part looks very similar to the piece i have in my engine bay, and is an evap canister. likely got put to the rear with the addition of all that fancy traction control.

You can see evap lines of some sort. Not sure what the sensors are.
My understanding is that is an 01 or 02 specific part possibly related to VSC and multimode stuff. on new trucks.
