Finally had the wedding last weekend, after about 1.5 years of engagement  It was the most fun I never want to have again.

We got matching tungsten carbide wedding bands, which I wanted because I'm a nerd like that.

Congratulations man.

How bout a pic of those tungsten bands. I've been thinking about those for when its finally my turn.
My only concern was what if something happens and my hand swells up, how the heck are they going to get the thing of my finger.
With a frickin die grinder????

They say the only one they cant cut off would be Aircraft grade Tungsten.
The normal Tungsten can be cut. Just takes a little longer compared to Gold.
One manufacturer said " if it cant be cut how did we make it in the first place"?

If you plan on working around stuff that could snag your ring you should really get it safety cut. Cause you know you are going to forget to take it off that one time and .....

I looked around to find the actual term for the cut.
When i was in the Navy they encouraged you to have a safety cut made so if you had your ring snag on something it would just open up instead of skinning your finger.

Thats nice to know. I am a diesel truck/heavy equipment technician, so I do have greater chance of snagging on something heavy or fast moving, or both.

Sorry, dont mean to hijack you thread Mastacox, I've just always wondered about and liked the tungsten ring idea.

*edit* - I was reading about tungsten rings and found this.

Emergency Removal of Tungsten Rings
Materials, like tungsten carbide or ceramic, can only be removed by cracking them into pieces with standard vice grip–style locking pliers. Standard ring cutters will not work.
Place vice grip–style locking pliers over ring and adjust the jaws to clamp lightly. Release and adjust tightener one-third turn and then clamp again. Repeat until a crack is heard, and then continue clamping in different positions until the hard material breaks away. Take care not to slide or rotate the cracked ring on the finger. If the ring contains an inlay of gold, the exposed gold can then be cut or clipped in the usual fashion. Click here for our wide selection of unique tungsten rings.

Hope you never ever come to this but if you ever do... Just Keep the vice grips handy.
