Sadly I won't be keeping all of them but will be able to play with them before I give em out. I'll sending one to my bro and gf as small gifts to keep on their key chains. The price points on these are pretty impressive!

The E01 is only $15 bucks!!! the other two are closer to the $50 range but still the specifications on these definitely make the price point attractive.

All above items can be purchased here Fenix Store (https://www.fenix-store.com). If you are a CPF (Candle Power Forum) member you get an added CPF member discount too!

im with chris on this one. i have a 2D cell mag (with mag LED upgrade) that lives in the truck, and a few others that spend their time hanging around the house/apt/garage, etc.

dad has an old streamlight sl20 (police flashlight of choice for 30 years) and a stinger like the one mentioned above. both are very nice, but very heavy and batteries and bulbs are VERY expensive.

I've got 3 fenix's but I'm not so sure I like their reliability. They've all flickered at some point and I've had to fiddle with either the head or the cap to get better continuity. It's kind of a minor thing but if I ever have to use them as a psuedo weapon light then I'd like to see better reliability.

Having said that, I'm eyeing the new tactical series they have. They're really hard to beat for the price, at least for now.

I'll repost my comparison pic:
http://www.robinhood4x4.com/misc/Flashlights2.JPG
http://www.robinhood4x4.com/misc/Flashlight%20beamshots.JPG

Since this picture was taken I now have a Fenix P3D 100. It's amazingly bright and impresses everybody who sees me use it. Everybody makes some kind of remark about it.

I also bought 2 L2T's for my guys at work.

I hope nobody here is buying their CR123 batteries over the counter at about $6 each! Search the internet for bulk buys where you can get them for about $1.50 each or if on sale for about $1 each.

Sweet, beam shots.
I found a box of 100 CR123a's a while back on ebay. I forget how much I paid but it I think it boiled down to less than a buck each. I gave half to my Dad (got him a Surefire for Father's Day one year) and have slowly been using the rest. They seem to last a long time. I keep a few in each car and my BOB. You never know when you need them

I've got an Inova X03 (2x CR123, 3-watt LED), a 2-D Cell LED Maglite, and various no-name AA LED lights. Both the Mag and Inova are very sweet lights, I love the Inova because it puts out an incredible amount of light for a palm-sized light...

3rd coast,

Do you mean you have the traditional flash light with the led bulb? if yes, i have the same thing too. but compared to even fenix 3d, its not even a close comparison. but then again, you cant beat the snot out of someone like you can with the maglite

I seem to never have light when I need it, so it was time to upgrade. The Fenix keychain light is brigher than the 4-cell D Mag light mounted in the 4Runner, and I will have that on me all of the time. I also replaced my incandescent 4-AA headlamp that you guys were making fun of in Joshua Tree with a Petzl Tikka Plus LED. Much brighter, way lighter and more comfortable and the batteries will last 100-150 hours. I also just learned that I can do surgery on it and replace the 4 white LEDs with the latest technology from Nichia and quadruple the light output with the same runtime. Geeze, I can't leave anything alone, not even a flashlight. :shake:

You guys save me money in some ways. I read about aftermarket parts for the 4Runner that work, so I buy those and avoid the expense of buying stuff that doesn't work. But then I browse the Outfitting section here and that "savings" goes out the window!

3000 lumens. I think Mac from CPF makes some modded HID Mag with that output. They only have a 15 minute run time though.

The flashlight I've carried every day for the last few years in the Surefire L1. A few months ago I purchased the new version, smaller, brighter and longer runtime. I love it.

I got to play around with the Beast when the old VP of surefire stopped by my friends shop to show it off. There are some photos of us playing around with the Beast, CSI style (you know where the the surefire's always have a low light output for cinematic effects. Like an M3 with the output of a maglight) You should see what the Beast does to a dark bathroom! The thing buzzes and seriously puts out enough heat to cook with!

Awe damn you, Lance and Ken! I've been thinking about buying pocket light after i had lunch with Lance on Saturday. He pulled out his new Fenix (forget the model #), so I had to buy a compact LED light of my own! I read a few posts and I decided to buy this:

http://www.arcflashlight.com/images/arc-aaa.jpg

Its an ARC Light Premium DS. I like the fact that it runs off AAA batteries and that its uber-compact---barely 3 inches long (which still makes it longer than Lance's pee pee, so says Robinhood4x4) :gay: :tongueout: And for those of you who really know me, I freak out like a bizatch when i have to add another key to my key ring, so this is a big step for me.

I intend to have this on my keychain as an every day tool. As I am part of my building's evac/safety team, I better have some kind of light. I'll post again when i get it.

I don't make a habit of looking at anyone's pee-pee, but I know exactly what you mean about adding yet another object to a keychain. I use my AAA Fenix L0D all the time, so having a little extra bulk in my pocket is okay with me. Plus, you look like a true boyscout around your friends when you are always armed with light.

Bob, this is just the first step in the program. You'll get a mid-size light next, then a big daddy Borealis after you camp with us a bit more!

Bob98SR5
05-20-2008, 05:15 PM
i also own a surefire 6P, so i'm covered in the mid-size dept...if a 6P is considered a mid size. i'll consider upgrading my 3D maglite b/c i put in a cheapy LED bulb in my current one. it does not seem as good as yours

FAWKIN PIECE OF S##T FORUM TIMER OF OURS. i spent 30 minutes writing this kick ass review of this light vs my 6P and i hit post and i went to the login screen. and yes, i clicked "remember me". grr.

anyways, here's some pics. i'm not gonna rewrite everything.

packaging- totally cheesy for a $45 light. gimme a nice box and pack it in foam, damnit!
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w177/bob98sr5/Flashlights/arc_packaging.jpg

only 2 7/8" long. kick ass:
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w177/bob98sr5/Flashlights/arc_tapemeasure.jpg

Where's the lens? I dont know if this is a good thing or not, esp attached to a keychain:
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w177/bob98sr5/Flashlights/arc_nolens.jpg

this is the beam pattern of this arc flashlight:
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w177/bob98sr5/Flashlights/arc_beam_only.jpg

and a very unfair comparison to a surefire 6P :D
http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w177/bob98sr5/Flashlights/arc_vs_6p.jpg

overall, id give it 1.5 thumbs up. the .5 off is for a light that should be $10 cheaper to reflect the cheesiness of the packaging (yes, presentation counts) and the lack of a replacable lens to protect the bulb given that its meant to be carried on a key ring.

4x4mike

Robinhood4x4

I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of lens, the LED itself is pretty tough and you'll never notice even if it does get scratched. I thought you knew there wasn't a lens.

Bob98SR5
05-22-2008, 10:48 PM
i did not know there wasnt a lens. i didnt really bother to examine the pictures on their site that closely as most of them were side profile views anyways. but good to know that the led is tough enough.

Good throw away light really since its cheap and so so in reality. Ultrafire is a cheap weird offbrand btw. Good for your uses and many others, I demand my gear be near failproof so i only buy top stuff lol..

FWIW I have this light: http://www.batteryjunction.com/premium-olight-m20-warrior.html its everything and more and for the price its nicer than a streamlight or surefire. You pay for what you get, buy once, cry once.

troyboy162
03-19-2009, 01:12 AM
yeah ive read that i may need to inspect the soldering on them but im up to that task. other then that the internals to any light come straight outa china/HK anyhow. im a master at being cheap and aluminum bodied flashlights with basic driver circuits seems like a place to save some money. i always thought the led's themselve were where why surefire could charge 300 bucks. turns out the worlds best leds are not more then $25 retail.

I have the knock off Surefire u2, like your first picture. Its a great light for the 10 bucks I paid for it. It's been dropped, left on and submerged and still rocks out. Be fine with your purchases. One thing I've found with DX is that their shipping is weird. Sometimes stuff is here really fast, other times 2+ weeks.

good to hear. the reports of issues with these things are extremely low from what i can gather. the mines should be about the ultimate place to test them out. give me a month and ill put 4 years of abuse on them lol.
on a side note i looked at surefires web site. have they dropped off the leading edge? the prices have come down but there rated light outputs are nothing even close to modern leds. Cree Q5 or R2 are well over 100 lumins in even the smallest sizes with lowest driving amps.

I sold my Borealis and got a new light. This one is rated at more lumens (2100) and is LED. I think the Borealis was brighter (1050 lumens) but it's hard to tell because it's light was a spot (non adjustable) and this new light is super flood (non adjustable). Nice thing about the flood is you just point it and you have a wall of light. It's also more useful in close up situations.

The led's are Seoul P7's. I bought the guts to flashlight from a guy that makes them. He is not currently making them so I don't know what the deal is. I'm thinking he wasn't making much on them. I think delivered the guts were $125.

He's a write up on the type of led in the light.

Good thread here. Saw it a while back and then forgot about it. Anyways, I have a Fenix TK10.

http://www.fenix-led.com/images/TK_10_black_512.jpg

Some of you may have seen it during the raffle at this last Pismo Jamboree. I used it as a spot light a few times. Haha. I love this damn light. Before long it will be going on my Sig 556 though. :D
I would like to get a P3D for everyday carry. But after looking through this thread I have decided to upgrade some Maglights that I have sitting around. Going to get the TerraLux upgrades for both the AA and 3D I have. The AA will be nice to carry around at work and not have to worry about trashing it. And the 3D will stay in the garage. Cheap upgrades and it will make the Maglights "decent". Haha.

Now back to Fenix lights. Have you guys seen the HP-10 Headlamp? (http://www.fenixlight.com/viewnproduct.asp?id=49) I'm liking it a lot.

I saw the HP-10 on CPF. Looks like a nice light but too bright for a headlamp. I love my Fenix lights so I bet the headlamp will be nice too, maybe I'll have to try it out.

Too bright? No way. There are 4 different output settings. 3 different flash settings too. Im totally down with it.

The fenix lamp is awesome but needs a flipdown red filter.

That would be a nice option. There is an optional diffuser lens for it though. So who knows, maybe more options/filters will be available down the road a bit.

I must have a red lens in the very least b/c it ruins your night vision HORRIBLY if you dont use one at night or when its dark.

I've got this new Petzl and I like it a lot.
http://www.petzl.com/us/outdoor/headlamps/tikka-zipka-series/tikka-plus

It's got a little red led for night vision mode. I think it's 65 lumens on high. If I need anything more I've got it in my pocket for hand.

^ I have a similar older model and love it, only downside is the AAA batts and my other stuff takes AA or CR123.

Mine has a flip down red lens

Now that I actually have a decent flashlight, I can contribute to this thread.

Thanks to Lance, I now have this:

Fenix LD10

I have a bunch of maglites that I now know that I should convert to LED. :)

Also, I thought I would show this light I have. You guys might laugh at it, but I use it all the time and it is one of the most useful lights I've ever used. I have the big one and the small one, and actually this is my second set. (Jack broke a leg off the small one using it as a play gun and the next day, someone stole the big one out of the 4runner) I got the original set from my dad for christmas and then he bought me the second set for my birthday.

Chris the batteries in that Fenix will last a long time. I've got a P3D and I can make 2 sets last about a year. Having aid that look online for CR123a battery deals. I don't care for the rechargeable (safety and convenience) but you can find some non rechargeable ones for around $1.25 each cell. I bought a box of 50 a long time ago and even with all my 123 lights I'm less than half way through.

That's why I'm stoked on the Fenix, it's a AA battery. Not sure if I'm ready for a cr123 battery flashlight. I've always got AA and AAA batteries around because of the kids toys.

Oh cool, I didn't realize. I'd go with the Energizer lithiums (e3 or something like that). I run them in my LOD key chain fenix.

ive been super happy with the two of these i bought. they require rechargable cr123's to be very bright but there still very usable on primarys. so far zero issues with my cheapo lights.
