Air bags/air shocks?

A pressure port that allows you to run air tools from your turbo?

It's something that I plan to add to mine in the near future as well..... Makes a huge difference when you load up your 4Runner for those long trips.....

Bags?

Yup Bruce is right, I saw a the guys on TruckU install them on a Ford.

Pretty much there bags that you fill up when you know your gonna carry a decent load or trailer something heavy and you want some extra support back there.
But its not controlled through a compressor on your rig, you fill them up or deflate them with a air pump at a gas station or even at home.

At least thats what my understanding is and think thats where Bruce is heading with this....

I could be wrong

per link above, looks like people are very happy with this product. great idea again, bruce. one thing that i'd like to see though, is a gauge hooked up to measure air pressure.

BruceTS

The problem with that is Joyce already has too many guages inside her dash and didn't want anymore, besides I can't see spending another $200 for that luxury.... just load you gear and adjust the pressure to compensate.

I didn't come up with the idea, Lars Dennart was the first to do this and has an excellent write-up on his website.

they're nice. i had a set of the TRD bags in my first 4runner back in 2002. they were the same red bags made by firestone. i had them set up on a manual valve like that, but i mounted mine near the hitch receiver on the back and a spliced the feeds into a common valve so that both could be filled equally.

i also had a set of the airlift 1000's on the red 4runner before i sold it. they were the SAME red firestone bags, but they came with a small compressor that had a momentary in-cab switch with a gauge and bleed valve all in one. that was nice to adjust them on the move.

i'll eventually get some for the 4runner i have now. when i'm pulling my boat w/ 400-500#'s of tounge wieght, i'm riding on the bump stops.

I really should have installed a set when we were moving up here. :shake:

My headlights were shining at the moon and steering got a little interesting from time to time. :hillbill:

I'll bet that haul was a little interesting to say the least. I've towed that exact setup loaded to the max and I had to turn back and call a moving company (my rear still smarts from that little wallet ransacking). The 4runner just wasn't meant to tow anything that large/heavy without some serious mods to the suspension/engine/tranny beforehand.

1200 miles, through Seattle rush hour traffic and all under 45mph!! Any faster and the trailer just about sent us off the road. My dad helped me pack the trailer and I kept stressing that I needed to keep the tongue wait low. He did such a good job that we only had 80lbs of tongue weight. The back of the 4runner was weighed down with belongings so I assumed it was excessive tongue weight. Found out we were light when we arrived in Juneau :chair:

Got to see the amazing scenery just a little better though.

I know I put some stress on the rig, but it held together pretty well.

Interesting enough thought, The newer 4Runners and Tacos are pre-wired for trail brakes (wish us 3rd gen guys were as lucky...)

needless to say I remember loading ar3e single axle trailer to the max as well as the rear of the truck (seats folded down to the roof (how my friend accumulated so much shit in his dorm room) needless to say we also had to take back roads... I will be getting these airbags eventually for when i need to tow another rig...

Did you have these before or after the utah trip?

I put it on after the Utah trip. The weight of the spare and full cans made the others tease me that I had a 'lowered' truck :(. I probably lost an inch with all the extra weight. Did you do anything to yours? I have Bilsteins in the rear.

I'm running the sonoran bilsteins right now and a trim spacer on my coils. But I will probably end up getting fj80 coils later this summer.
