So is anyone using their "rebate" check for Yota mods or upgrades? I think I'm going to get my fender flares painted to match and touch up some scratches.

Brakes and Tires.
I need both, since my guy said they would be gone by next year (so I have a heavy lead foot and I out close to 20+K on them.....)

Lol, yeah. The whole community has cut back on usage so we're saving almost 60,000 gal of expected 100,000 gal of fuel usage each day. Thankfully that means the remaining hydro power can keep the prices a little lower. It is DARK in this town at night
The disaster relief is still up in the air though. They did get a disaster declaration to let them exceed environmental regulations for the generator's emissions (don't tell Al Gore :flipoff:), but they are taking thier sweet time with funding for the price increase :asshat:

Slightly off topic but aren't the environmentalists up there (Alaska) stopping any oil drilling from going on as well? If they are, it sure doesn't help the price of gas any...

Does anyone else get a kick out of the fact that the Canadian guy is the one who has the full US tax rebate schedule? :D
Since I'm still a student and don't really have verifiable income I'm not getting a rebate... If I did it would go towards my credit card to pay off some maintenance stuff on my truck and the excruciating gas bill ($55 at my last fill up Friday...).

I'll probably end up buying a newer digital camera or doing some brake work. Right now, I"m just waiting for the price to come down on the camera I want (Canon SD790IS). But then again, I also would like to buy a Wii and make some overseas trips, so I dunno. Maybe towards a down payment for a 3rd gen 4Runner or a Taco. It'll get used somehow. :D

Unfortunately it is because as a US citizen you still have to file US taxes even if you live out of the country.
BTW, it's the only country in the world that does that too.......massive pain in the butt. :argue: :chair:

I was lucky, this year I could claim myself, well I could before, but I guess before it actually mattered on moms taxes, this year it didn't, so she had me claim myself.
And i don't believe your parents get what your rebate Ned, according to a friend of mine her dad doesn't get her rebate, which I think is complete BS

My grandparents have not paid taxes for fifteen years, but they did receive a notice from Uncle Sam directing them to file taxes for 2007 to claim their economic stimulus check. Interesting.
Like a true American, I am spending part of my check before I even get it. Nothing exciting, some 99+ fog lights and a hood protector.

I believe they do. They get an addition 300 in addition to their 600 for each dependent they claim, which means any claimed dependent is ineligible, regardless of the fact that they may earn qualifying income (like I do). I earned over 3000 in the 2007 tax year, which makes me eligible for it, but since my parents are claiming me as a dependent, I get nothing and they get an additional 300. or atleast my mom does. Thats what my understanding is anyway :-P

"Starting in May, the Treasury will begin sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. IRS will take care of the rest. Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage workers who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment."

But my mom did them and didn't have my checking account info.
That and she did them last minute
My mom has never been on time for anything, even her own wedding.
Her license plate on the olds before I got it said "IML8" AKA I'm Late cause she always was!

Ned This is why my friends dad isn't getting the money, he claims her, but she is 21, so she isn't under 17 hence her dad doesn't get the additional $300.
