I know my '84 22R 5 speed 4runner has a 180* t-stat. I have heard that the dealership can get (but doesn't stock)a 160* t-stat for the 22 series motors. I called the dealership but as always hes a real 'knowledgable' guy and can't help me at all. So i am curious if anyone knows what models had the 160* t-stats so i can order that one. Me personally, I assume they probably came in the turbo's but am looking for some clarification or any help. Let me know if you guys find anything, until then, im off to keep looking on google.

Hey chris I think the 22r t-stat is a standard body. You might be able to get one at the auto parts store. I think Stant is the brand. When I replaced mine (when I had a 22RE) it was just a trip to the Napa store.

yeah I looked online at Auto Zone, and they offer a 160* t-stat. Probably just go that route.
