Ok I had no clue you can actually recycle your CD's! Well sort of. I know you can resell your old CD's (audio/games/etc) in exchange for newer stuff but to completely recycle em like it's a bottle, aluminum can or even a plastic bottle is really new to me.

CD Recycling Center of America (http://www.cdrecyclingcenter.com/) was founded in 2006 to provide consumers and companies education, awareness, and options for easy CD and DVD recycling. Their website offers a range of articles, research, products and member profiles of the growing number of supporters and members, to be applauded by the recycling conscious good people of the earth.

FAQ on Recycling CD's (http://www.cdrecyclingcenter.com/information/faq)

Send your old unwanted CD's to:
The Compact Disc Recycling Center of America
68H Stiles Road
Salem, NH 03079

It's nice to see an organization set this up but right now you have to ship your old cd's to em. There are currently no drop off facilities available across the country so until then shipping the old cd's is on you. bummer. It's a good start so pass the word around!

I had actually heard about this from a guy at work one time, and we boxed up all of our old scrap CD's both personal, and around the house, and shipped them to them, I thikn it was just over 6000 CD's.

I didn't know you could even recycle polycarbonate but I did a quick google search and found a few doing it so I guess CDs can be actually recycled (as opposed to just taken in for non-landfill disposal). The recycling field is just growing like stink now and I'm always impressed with all the new technologies coming out every year.

Didn't know you could do it.
I would still shred the CD before sending it to be recycled.
