Confession: I go slumming at pawn shops. Economically, my State is experiencing some hard times. It's during the hard times that I cruise pawn shops looking for bargains. Today I found treasure.

This is a Sig P220 Sport in .45 acp. These were limited production and today are worth more than a pair of ARB lockers....if you can find one for sale. This one came to me for less than the price of one ARB...hehe. Not everyone knows what treasure they possess. I am an hopeless addict.

not a bad idea... i might go to a pawn shop to buy my first handgun, as i will likely beat the snot out of it, i dont think shelling out nearly 800 bucks on something is wise for a first timer. its like buying a POS car as your first, so you appreciate your second car more. nice find man!

I can think of two things that the end of that barrel would be used for, one is cool, the other is simply awesome.

Oly, this is what I have planned for the threaded barrel...sadly, I keep finding other toys to buy first. When addictions conflict with other addictions it becomes a matter of sacrificing prioity for instant gratification...Hehe.

Displayed is the actual weapon with two targets. The left target range was 75 ft. at 1-2 second intervals. The right target range was 105 ft., same time intervals. The three flier rounds at center mass reflect my reflex start as the gentleman in the next lane fired his .44 mag the instant before my trigger slipped into fire. There are seven rounds discharged in each target.

Yesterday in honor of the serendipitous decision handed down by the Supreme Court in favor of individual gun/arms right recognized by the US constitution as preexistent to the establishment of governmental powers, I indulged my addiction again with a commemorative and celebratory addition to my collection. Below is not the actual weapon, but a thieved web-pic which will suffice until I can log my own digi-pic.

Sorry, I missed this before. Of the several varieties of firearms I have and have shot, the USP is one of the finest. Can't say this for all of my high end pistols, but the USP has NEVER failed me; not a single time. It eats anything I feed it and with voracity. It is well balanced and seems to find the sweet spot in my grip by itself. Now I have three USP variants and have my eye on atleast two more...hehe doubtlessly, they'll need to be stealth-buys since the venerable Mrs. Fuster doesn't see why I need more than one :hillbill:

My wife tried out a bunch of guns and finally settled on a P2000 in 9mm (she has expensive taste). The reason she chose that one is because the USP and the P2000 slides are really easy to rack. The springs are a lot lighter than any of the other autos out there except a 1911. She likes it and can fire it just fine. We got the variant 3. It seems like a fine firearm.

My personal opinion is that I don't think it's $300 better than any other plastic semi auto out there. I just don't see that the quality, functionality, or accuracy is any better than my XD. But again, it's a fine firearm and I do like it.

Now that's nice...I like the grip. Is it walnut? Stainless slide too. 40 cal is a respectable round with impressive balistic characteristics. I like it. How does it smoke?

:D yeah, walnut straight from the sig custom shop. the SAS is supposed to be sig's "anti snag" melted slide, non rail frame, DAK trigger, and some custom shop fitting with obilgatory emblem on the slide as well as the walnut grips.

i fondled, i mean handled a 229 SAS and a 220 SAS Carry at my local shop and loved them. i also checked out the same ones in Platinum Elites, and fell in LOVE with the machined aluminum grips on them. they're just STICKY and felt soooooooo nice.

since the wood is so purrrrrty, i'm thinking of getting some DAK friendly hogue aluminum grips for this one.

oh, and i picked up this one used w/ an extra mag and 357 sig bbl used for a mint online. as bad as i didn't want to, i sold the extra mag and bbl to recoup $150 on the purchase, so in essence, i'm stealing this beauty. i've got a stash of 40 ammo, so that was more appealing to me than the 357 variety, and i can always pick up another bbl later if i so choose.

anyway, this one will arrive tomorrow, but since i'm out of the office all day, i won't pick it up until wednesday. :( needless to say, i'm looking forward to burning some powder in this one. now i just need to find a nice comfy IWB leather to let it ride in.

oh, and BTW, there's another sport listed over at sigforum.com for something insane like $850 - or at least it WAS listed there...

-edit: it's $895 for a 229 sport in 357sig, and it may be spoken for already.

Yeah, it's spoken for.

The DAK trigger is supposed to be the bomb. I wonder if that's what my sport has from the factory....it sure is sweet. As I squeeze the trigger, it settles into the rear of the guard with little effort required. Then just before the break, it pauses and offers about 3 lbs of resistence. Consistent pressure increase applied and it breaks without affecting the line of sight. I love ot fire that 220 sport....

Let me know what your sense is with that DAK trigger, Andy. I'm curious as usual.

By the by, I'm darthfuster on sigforum.....I mostly lurk though.

is the sport double action only or DA/SA? [edit: i just looked at your pic, and it's definitely DA/SA since you have the decocker - notice my 229 doesn't have one since it's double action only. anyway...] if DA/SA, then it might have the SRT trigger. it's a short-reset SA trigger that comes on the elite series. it's VERY nice. if double action only, then it most likely has the DAK. you can tell by dropping the hammer w/ the trigger, hold the trigger down while cycling the slide, then slowly release the trigger. if you have an intermediate "click" for a reset point, then another one at full release, then you have a DAK. if you have just one reset point at full release, then you have a regular DAO trigger.

BTW, I *LOVE* the DAK!

seriously, it's N.I.C.E. This Sig was used, but you couldn't tell it other than the normal barrel smileys from about 100 rounds the P.O. put thru it.

my FFL here has an indoor range, so i took it for a spin today when i picked it up. :D i ran 200 of some 180gr FMJ WWB's thru it and was very happy with it's perfromance. zero issues, and the ONLY thing it needed was a very minor sight adjustment. after that, it was dead on, and i put 40-rounds in a ~4-inch ragged hole at 15-yards @ 1-second firing intervals to end out the session. at 7 yards, it was dead-nuts on and would easily patter at less than 2". freehand at 25 yards, i can get most in the 9's with a couple 8's as strays on a B-27.

overall, it's one sweet little handgun, and i'm definitely a fan of the DAK trigger system.

the wood is gorgeous, but it was a little slick and slightly too "rounded" of a feel for my liking. i'm seriously thinking of getting some of the hogue aluminum grips - i love the feel of the sig aluminum grips on the platinum elites. the other thing i think i want to do is get some night sights for the rear. i'm just used to shooting w/ a 3-dot system, and "dotting the i" was a little different for me and i found myself having to concentrate too much on follow-ups to make sure i was properly aligned.

now i've got to give it a good scrub and find an IWB for carrying it...

(pics tomorrow - camera is at work!)

Can't wait for pics!!!

Yup mine is the DA/SA with an SRT. And yes it is as nice as my precision rifle trigger. My sites are three dot adjustable spring loaded target sites. I have the I dotter on the p230. It takes a few rounds to reset my tecnique when I shoot that one.

I did notice no decocker on yours and also presumed no protruding hammer either...is that the case? Mine has the walnut factory grips, the factory composite grips, a pair of hogue rubberized grips and a set of hogue rubber grips with the finger groove thingys. While I like the presentation look of the walnut, I prefer the hogue grips. I vacilate between grooves and no grooves.

I love Sigs. I have three and a conversion to .357 sig for my 2340. They are so sweet to fondle. I need to get a pic of them all together. Matbe over the weekend....

Good choice anyway Andy. If it's not to selfish I am a bit envious/covetous. It looks so perky.
