just thought id share this with someone

got a bit bored in journalism, lyndsey didnt know what i was doing but here is a mockup.

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/3880/psdfiledd6.jpg

would be interesting to get a 4runner that has rolled maybe and had some back half issues and the front was in decent shape.

and then fix it up with some serious hardware, 40s or 42s and go to town.

Interesting. You thinking build the back like a taco bed, or keep the seat in and make it sorta like a new 1st gen?

Cristo over on IH8mud chopped the back off a wrecked LC80 and turned it into a truck. Turned out nice.

you better hope you dont have a sunroof if you did that, not sure how fond i am of the cut going all the way to the front doors... def. would be interesting though

pics working now. certainly interesting. not sure if i would do it though. if i ever did anything like that it would be along the lines of mossy rocks, OR what he planned to do, a removable rear shell, like a 1st gen, but only the cargo area.

neliconcept
04-30-2008, 06:09 PM
well i think it would be interesting setup for certain areas.

I thikn all the way to the rear of the front doors ala 1st gen would be cool, but you will want to leave a B-pillar in place behind the doors. So in reality you would be cutting about 4" less than your pic shows.

Damn, the title got me excited.

I think it would be a cool setup, but I agree with Chris on leaving the B pillar.

so dont cut until where the rear window starts? i could easily just reinforce the roof with a interior cage.

Seanz0rz

i think the point is to have something for the front doors to sit on. basically leave the factory b-pillar, and cut when it starts to turn horizontal, where the rear door sits.

hell, if you're gonna do that, then why not take out the B-pillars, the top section of the front doors, the entire top to the front windshield, and all the door glass as well and have a true convertible. from there, just build a cage to provide passenger area safety and call it done. no glass to worry about and no sheetmetal on top at all.

not such a big fan of it. i love the way mossy's looks, thats how it should be done.

interesting idea, of course id like to keep the windows as well to go up and down, and just roll em down lol.

sorry im in a realllly good mood right now, just went out with that lyndsey girl and some other things went on... no comments

I like the concept.
I have seen a person who rolled a Xterra do such a project.
If I where to do it, I would get the rear doors welded shut and strong.
Still chop off the section you want to chop and make it sort of a 1st3rdGen
So you would install seat from lets say a Taco Ext cab so you could still grant access to the rear for passengers.

I think it's pimp, 1st gen 4runner were clearly the best generation 4runner EVAR :D so anything you do to make it more like that is gooooood. Ever see this buildup on pirate?

If I was going to ever do something like that, I'd do what Mossy did.

I think you should cut it like that intrepidyota guy did.

If I had major damage to the top sheet metal and was going to cut it off, this is what I would use for my "inspiration", minus the 22" wheels and the LEXUS CNC-cut bling everywhere. Otherwise, nicely done.

Andy, I really like that rig. Super nice, other than the wheels.

Here's another one I really like. Sorry about the photo being small...their website has a dead link to the photo album.

rear ended basically

man those things are cheap.

I just went to the ebay link that Andy posted, and look at that tow rig! Ugly rims, but wow...pretty unique! Wonder if it is 6x6. I wonder what they got under the hood.

I was reading another thread somewhere that showed vehicles similar to that 6 wheeled 4Runner, but all of them were photochopped. I'm gonna have to do a bit of investigation, since that ebay auction seemed a bit weird.

I will be back at that course a few times this summer if I run into him I'll get some info on it. You could always send him a message on ebay asking about it like I said he's a really nice guy.

A 3rd gen done up similar would be pretty sweet.
