Sucks man! We all have those moments.... along this same vane, remember to always double check that you put your oil pan drain plug in before pouring 5 qts of NEW oil in there. :)

yeah, got it cleaned up with that absorbent gravel stuff, luckily the crack was small so i got well over half of the oil poured into an empty jug before the rest leaked out

i have yet to have a completely smooth oil change... :chair:

I think this is why we are a dying breed of American males that still change our own oil.

I once was finishing off an oil chage that had been started by another tech, and I pumped about 30 qts of Delo400 ($6 a quart retail) onto the ground before I realized that no one had installed the drain plug.

I think we all have to make that mistake at least once in our life. The first time its is experience, the second time your an idiot.

We had a shop helper do an oil change on a Tractor/trailer once. To our amazement he went out there with a 6 quart drain pan. We watched with laughter as 4 gallons of oil poured out in a matter of seconds as he was fumbling to put the plug back in. Luckily the truck was over a reclaimation pit and no harm was done.

Yeah there was a language barrier, so it was hard to explain we were just laughing at the episode, not him. I hope he learned with bigger motors comes more oil.
