Was wondering if anyone in the San Diego Area could help me out installing a Window AC unit. I have removed my Fridge, and bottom portion of window, but need about 1/2 inch to fit the Unit. Just need advice & help on how to get it to fit.

Its very close to fitting in, and there is some window trip that could be cutt out to make it work, but I don't know much about Windows and framing ect. Willing to pay for it in these hot temps. Not much work really, just need advice and slight help with it. Anyone out there that can help me out?

Is it a wood window? Or a metal window? I am out in ATL, so I am no help, but I would be glad to give you any help I can from here!

Its Metal and Plastic. The typical cheap white windows from HD Im sure. What ever I do to the window, I need to put it back like it was when I leave. The AZ Unit came with some brackets and stuff.

The half inch I need is from top to bottom, not left to right. I know for a fact I could fit it, but it would require some cutting and shaving off the window, and I don't know if these windows have parts that come off, so that I don't have to cut.

I just don't want to mess it up, and have to buy a whole new one. Any ideas or have anyone that could swing by and take a look?

is the upper portion removable? probably not.

do you own or rent. if you own, time to cut a hole in the wall, if you rent, time to buy a smaller unit.

x2

These things have minimum window opening sizes on the box.

I just put in 2 in my office.

If it doesnt fit it will be easier and cheaper to exchange it or put it in a different room, and just pick up a different one of that room.

They are really only good for one room. The box will have the room specs too.

the 2 i got where good for a 10x15 room and i paid 139 each @ HD.

I rent the house, and the was a gift from last year. So exchange is out of the option. Well, just have to call someone over to have it installed. Thanks guys.
