Alright so tell me what you think,
I have some pretty awful pin striping on my silver '96 SR5 from my adventures in AZ and CO and i was thinking of painting a border on the lower part of my truck similiar in size to the trim that comes on some limited runners. Im thinking black in a tougher paint to give me a bit more protection and look cool as itll match my sliders and ARB front bumper.
Tell me what you think? suggestions?

Paint it again and you will be in the same spot down the road. How about LineX?

x's 2 on the Linex or the "do it yourself" brands. If you do it yourself, it's all in the prep, and if you do black, make sure you spring the extra $ for the UV protectant.

im doing it, though i refuse to use linex, i really do not like the texture. i might get around to it next weekend, if the weather cooperates and i get my door dent hammered out in time. well see.

i like the two tone look, for better or worse, my truck is getting it :hillbill:

of course lots of pictures.

im on the fence between rustoleum hammer finish paint (which i currently have on the bumper and sliders) or just a silver. i think i might try the hammer finish, and if i cant get it to look right i can always recoat with silver.

I got a buddy with an FJ, that did the "do it yourself" rinolinning type on the rockers and where his flairs went, his turned out really nice, silver rig black linner, looks good IMO. we plan on doing mine this summer :shake:

if you can, do it a medium grey/ thundercloud color,

i see more and more silver/black rigs and its getting to be too common/old

Hey- Along the same lines guys, i just painted my wheels with black rustoleum hammered paint and it looks amazing. Have had a few people come up and ask if i got them powder coated.

I am going to nix my Bushwacker fender flares and go with an Ameraguard spray coating. This stuff is different than that of Rhino, Line-x, and the other stuff. From what I understand, it is an Aliphatic Urethane that is UV resistant. The others mentioned are Aromatic Urethanes and will eventually discolor to the UV exposure. This discoloration will happen despite the addition of additional UV stabilizers. I went by the Ameraguard dealer and he gave me a sample of this stuff that was several years old and covered with dust/grime. I ran it under water, and it looked like new immediately.

If there are any chemical engineers on UY, would you please chime in and share your knowledge and expertise? Thanks guys!

Regards,

BWJ
