Trying to track down a bomber iPod case that will hold a fifth generation 80 GB if I check my notes correctly.

What do you have and what do you like?

The idea is something that can be dropped and not be followed with, "Dang, I hope this still works", not just some silly dress up thing.

Thanks.

Sometimes the most logical answers to life's persistent questions can be found in nature...

Can't go wrong with Pelican.

Seems like a bit overkill - I mean, you have to open the thing up to be able to see the screen. Granted the 80gb is an expensive piece though.

If it were me, I'd get one of those silicon rubber sleeves. I got one for my wife for her mini - plus I know a guy who uses one for his iPhone both have given adequate protection from drops.

With that said, I came across these a while back and think I will probably try one of these when I have a bigger iPod. http://matias.ca/armor/ipodclassic/index.php?refID=16

I use a small Pelican case for transporting my iTouch. Maybe a bit overkill but I have used the same case to protect all my different iPods during my deployments and have never had a problem.

I use the silicone ones from Speck for both my old ipod and my ipod touch. They have one that is twice as thick as everybody else's and I'm pretty confident it'll survive a drop.

Seems like a bit overkill -

The pelican is a bit less "I dropped it, I hope it still works" and a bit more "I ran this over with a D-10, it should be fine", but it does give one some extra confidence. The silicon things seem to work well for everyone I've seen. Much more accessible than the Pelican.

Thanks Gents.

I am familiar with the Pelicans, but the lack of use when in the case is rough.

I found the Otterbox and like the looks of the Matias.

Onward.
