Holy batman! This crazy lookin green vehicle only pimps a 1.7gal tank but this 2 person 2 cylinder engine has enough of a punch to go 75mph! Looks like this is a done deal for 2010 and will be stiff competition with the other green vehicles due out soon.

Would be really tough to buy a VW with the reliability problems they have, but that thing is awesome.

HAHA!!! The best episode was the Christmas one.

You know, this thing looks like something out of Germany's late WWII Luftwaffe program, esp the paint color. I'm all for these vehicles getting into production and in salesrooms asap

Looks like the passenger sits in the back. So much for trunk space.

I would be interested in seeing how it does in a side impact crash test... By one of our rigs... At Highway speeds...

The mpg is impressive though. Maybe just shoot for around 120mpg and a more reasonable configuration? Not bashing it though because it is progress in the right direction!

Kinda cool, but probably too "extreme" for mainstream appeal (I don't think I would want one, unless it was super cheap). What they need to make is a Diesel/Electric hybrid Golf. It could probably get about 100mpg, and be somewhat more practical than this thing...

Brian,

I posted on another thread about diesel hybrids. VW did make one golf that was a hybrid diesel that averaged 70+ but the production cost outweighed the desire to build one so it won't happen. They said the hybrid part is way too expensive to build and would just price out the vehicle price so instead they'll focus on better diesel engines. bmw and mb said they believed vw's decision and will be following suit.

So unless some other mfg decides to do a diesel hybrid we won't be seeing one of these for some time.
