Roof rack removal?

How do you remove the two main roofrack supports on a 3rd gen 4runner?

Actully, I need to remove the front one and flip it around to get a roof basket to fit.

do you mean the rails or the cross bars?

both are held in by bolts that have star-bit heads.

im assuming by your post you mean cross bars. the ends need to be removed first (i think it's a flip top lid hiding a star bit head to a bolt..) you unscrew that, pull it away. then you loosen the cross bar and gently tap each side evenly so it slides out... turn it around, slide it back into the guides and... walla.

#24 torx bit

unscrew about 1/2 way on the entire length of the rail
when the rail gets level with the end caps, jimmy off the end caps
unscrew the rails from there

ah yes the end caps are just in place by snaps.. i couldnt remember. :)

be careful with those, they like to break...
