Hey all,

So about a month ago, myself and some friends spent a week on the Blackfeet Indian reservation in Heart Butte, Montana. Because airfare was about $300 cheaper, we decide to fly into Salt Lake City, Utah and drive up to Heart Butte. Along the way, we made detours to Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons, and Yelowstone. During the trip, we also drove into Glacier N.P. and Waterton Lakes, Canada (Canadian side of Glacier). It was an awesome experience for us east coast folks, and many of the people that went along on the trip had never seen the Rockies. Anyways, I just thought I'd share some pictures with you all.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming:

Waterton Lakes International Peace Park, Alberta, Canada:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a256/DH6twinotter/Montana%2008/IMG_1759.jpg

We found a road that went to some lake about 30 miles from Waterton. It was probably one of the most awesome places I've been to in a while. There was nobody around for miles. The highest peaks were on the US side of the border with British Columbia beeing about 1/2 mile to the west.

It's hard to see in the picture, but there was a small avalanche on the opposite side of the lake from where we were standing:

We came across this Dutch couple with a smoking RV. We found the problem which turned out to be a leaking oil filter that was dripping oil on the exhaust (they just had an oil change).

So after visiting Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Alberta Canada, we figured we would make one last stop at the Salt Lake before heading to the airport:

Our van after about a 10 mile ride down a rough dirt road:

We rented it from a pretty dumpy outfit in Salt Lake City. Bunch of broke stuff on it, including a broke power outlet, cupholders, gas cap (what a pain!), cruise control, back door handle, power door locks, and half the interior lights. But, it did have the V10 motor which hauled, and it was $600 cheaper than the nearest quote from enterprise, etc. Their office:

Oh yeah, mods I wasn't sure whether or not to put this in the trip section since it has nothing to do with wheeling or Toyotas. But, please move it as you all see fit.

That looks like an awesome trip!

Bob, I thought the same thing. I went back and looked at my pics and that one has some slight differences (black rims, bars over the windows, etc...). I don't have pics of his license plate, so I can't be for sure. Those things are very cool!

Yeah, the LC was awesome! It was parked on the side of the road with a bunch of other cars watching a heard of buffalo. It was funny, because everybody in our van were taking pictures of the buffalo, and here I was whooping and hollering and taking pictures of an LC out the opposite side of the van. Everybody thought I was nuts. :hillbill:

Yeah, definitely. I've gone up to Montana for a week the last 3 years, and it just blows me away every time. The east coast is just way to over populated. You folks out west are lucky!

Yellowstone is definitely an awesome place to visit. Just check on road closures before you go, especially if it is anytime before June. The south entrance had just opened the day before we drove through, and the roads had some slick spots. Some of the roads in the park were still closed, so we had to re-route.

I'd like to take Hwy 89 all the way up from SLC to the Canadian border. 89 goes through Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and follows the eastern edge of Glacier. It looks like an awesome drive.

Anyways, we are relly looking forward to possibly going back next year.

Definitely, and the little guys who rent the bicycle carts.... haha. When we were younger my sister and I flipped one of those carts over just down the street from Zums. lol.
