I know I am probably going to get flamed on this but here it goes.
As the title says I would like to do this swap, and have already begun to collect piece.
I have the actual center bezel, and I have the part number for the actual vent ducts.

The only problem I am foreseeing is the rewiring of the switches to work in the cent of the dash.
The reason I want to do this upgrade is so I can free up where the ECT and Window button are now for eventually either ARB switches or more lighting.

I know it will probably be a EDIT:PITA but I am really looking to forge ahead and maybe even do a detailed enough right up to post on the Wiki here.

I have read threads on TOF about at least getting the window and defrost(getto style) to work.
But I need the ECT as well since I have and Auto trans.

Any input from the great tech here on the site will be greatly appreciated, especially from those that know a thing or two about the wiring system.

Pics to come later of my purchase.
(Room is a littel dirty with a bunch of other parts I ordered to get the truck running)

I've done it. And mine is not "a POS" :flipoff:

Yours won't be either if you do it right.

First step is to get all the wiring diagrams for your truck and, if not all, the necessary ones for a 99+ truck.

Get them from that techinfo site, sorry I can't find the link right now...

I think I can pull the wiring diagrams off Ebsoco Host Manuals.
Unless there is anyone on here that has the FSM version that would be ever so kind to share them with me.

I am presuming the tech info site you are refering to is Ebsco Host?

Garrett, How did you go by doing the defrost, I was reading on TOF that he still had to use the old defrost button and did some getto rigging to get it to work.
Did you find a way around that?

a cheap trick for wiring manuals/schematics is to go to the local library and photocopy their mitchells diagrams. that's what i did for the sunroof controls, and got it working in a couple days of studying.

I would have to find a local library that actually has them....

Maybe the one down by the stealer might...

I was talking about http://techinfo.toyota.com but doesnt matter where you get them. That site is $10 a day by the way, so if you're up to it, set some time aside and download EVERYTHING for your truck, its worth it if you work on your truck a lot.

My defrost switch is wired exactly how NorCalVP did it (I think Rocket is the one that actually posted the pictures though). It's been working perfectly since day 1, noone else knows what it looks like....

I wonder how long it would take to copy the info for 3 vehicles..

Yeah I read his thread, thats the ghetto rigging I was referring too...
Guess That the only way :-)

The downloading goes fast (assuming you have a relatively fast connection), all it is is a lot of .pdfs. It's the fact that you have to download them all individually that takes forever, you can't just download a zip file for an entire vehicle.

For 3 vehicles I would set aside at least a couple hours... Just break it up throughout the day, it can't be toooo bad.......

Just looked at my stuff- Everything together is only about 36 MB... and by everything I mean all ~1000 files

Ah thats cool, I have off next weekend, I might do it then.

So as promised here are some pics:
I forgot to mention that it was out of an 00-02 since it doesn't have the little security light by the passengers seat belt indicator.
And please excuse the pictures, I am still working on trying to get a new digital camera, my cell is the best I have at the moment.

And I was serious about all the other stuff in my room that is waiting to be prepped and mounted...

I'm planning on doing this on my 96 someday. I have all the parts just haven't had the time. Once I get started I'll post pics as well. Mine is a manual (99 bezel is from a auto) and I'll probably use the ECT switch for lights.

Believe it or not I have not.
The radio bezel is in but nothing is hooked up.
Right now I with school, work, and the economy, the truck is in a stuck state.
I have a wiring harness waiting for my locker that has been ready for a week but with other vehicle problems, anything is just not at all plausible.

Keep your eyes open though cause I will be doing a write-up still.
