I have a quick question pertaining to the brakes on a 98 limited with the P265 tire package. After reading this article http://www.top4runners.com/ja/runhist31998.html I saw that these particular trucks use a 13" front brake system and 13" rear drum.

How does this compare in size to the 2001 Tundra brakes that people switch to. It appears from that site, that only the 98 came with this size and they were once again smaller in the 99s (still had 13" fronts but dropped to 12" drums in rear)

quote from top4runners
Braking is responsive, thanks to power-assisted, 12-inch ventilated front disc brakes with 12-inch rear drums. Models equipped with the P265 tire package feature 13-inch front ventilated discs and 13-inch rear drums. All V6 4Runners feature a four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS) as standard equipment while four-cylinder models offer it as an option. This ABS system automatically switches off when the optional locking rear differential is engaged, since that feature does not allow the rear wheels to rotate independently of each other.

the 2001 tundra brakes will fit in 16 inch wheels, but not 15, just like my stock brakes.

bottom line, from what ive experienced on the internet, most 4runners came with the bigger brakes, and the rotor diameter between the 4runner and tundra is exactly the same. the advantage of the "bigger" tundra brakes is a thicker rotor, reducing warping.

Great - thanks!

I thought it was just the width of the rotar... but wasnt quite sure
