The 420-metre (1,378-foot) building's apartments would spin a full 360 degrees, at voice command, around a central column by means of 79 giant power-generating wind turbines located between each floor.

I saw that on abcnews.com and maaaannnn that architect sure sounds shady and under qualified for a project of this magnitude. He listed some degree that he had from some college but nobody could verify it.

Looks like a cool idea. If anyone has the money for it, it is UAE.

Dubai was one of my favorite spots that I visited while in the Marines. I would love to go back there again, it has changed so much since 2000 when I was there.

Dubai is definitely an awesome place to visit for the sheer amount of unique architecture to be seen. The UAE is certainly smart about realizing that the oil in their ground won't last forever and US, European, and Chinese people are increasingly attracted to exotic locales.

I understand that the "World Islands" requires a house to be built reflective of the geographic area that it lies, so what would you build in Antarctica that has never had permanenent human establishments? Expedition tents??
