What is all is involved in replacing the water pump gasket on 3.4L engine?

you need to take the timing belt off. how many miles do you have? you should just replace the t-belt, water pump, gasket, thermostat, & coolant. the 3.4 water pumps always leak. when i did mine the original gasket was paper, the new one is metal.

190,xxx miles, timing belt was replaced last year.

If your water pump is leaking, then you should replace the timing belt again when you replace the water pump gasket. The FSM is very particular in stating that you must avoid getting coolant on the timing belt.
