My daughters birthday.

In Canada though, no day off on her birthday.

Went to the cabin with a bunch of friends, talk about a great time. Crabbing, fishing, geoduck digging, oh, and drinking beer!

On our way in the Ferry!

It may not look bad, but those were 3'-5' swells and my buddy Brandon and I had to get the 4 crab traps.... in a 8' boat. "Deadliest Catch - Dabob Bay"

Oly, man that looks like a good time.

That GeoDuck looks a lot like a Steamer Clam from the north east. Is it the same? Those are my favorite but noting similar down here is SoCal as far as I know.

We've got steamer clams as well (butter clams up in this area is the jargon)

However, geoduck are a touch bigger...

This gives a decent size comparison:

i know this is a bit generic, and i will probably get the answer "chicken" to it, but... what does one of those taste like? not a huge fan of shell fish except for lobster, and i despise oysters (shucking 200 a day in highschool for a couple years will turn you off just about anything)

It has a slightly sweet taste, but it absorbs the flavors of what you cook it in. For example, I like to pan fry it with some garlic and butter and put some bread crumbs in it, mmmm. It's a touch on the chewy side, not like octopus however.

With that geoduck, I made some chowder, along with some butter clams and dugeness crab. It was soooooo good.
