It's pretty funny to see visitors reaction to the long days. While we're still quite a bit lower than Fairbanks (or Anchorage for that matter) we too have a fair amount of light until 11 pm. No one in their right minds would live up here if we didn't get crazy long days to offset the crazy short days in the winter

How did you like the 2 hr night?
We stopped in Alaska once on the boat when i was in the Navy.
Walked out the bar at 1 am and its just looking like dawn. come out a hour or so later and its starting to get bright again.
All my other trips up i didn't pay alot of attention to it, but i did do alot of trips during the winter too.
Ran from Anchorage to Fairbanks once in Feb took me 5hrs.
Only fishtailed twice. And i had to stop for gas nad a side trip for a few min in Denali just to find out it was still closed up.
The guy i met in Fairbanks asked if i flew. Nope just did about 90 the whole way.
Have fun up there. I love it up there, it comes down to it and i have a choice I'm retiring up there. Has to be one of the best place i have been, and i been to alot of places....

Im in Juneau, it's been a great trip so far, you guys will get the full report with pics when I get back, I was able to hang out with some friends in anchorage, but not able to see you, Erich, in Juneau, I am only here for another 30 minutes or so, right now I am sitting in the McD's downtown near the pier so if you are close by, come on down. :)

Bummer on missing meeting up! It wouldn't have worked out well any way, had I seen your post earlier. I'm taking an online Arctic Engineering course right after work, so I'm booked back to back for the next couple weeks
Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
Erich
