Read Michael Crichton's Next. It's all about this. And yes, this stuff is true. Genetic code for blue eyes? Wouldn't be surprised if someone went after that at some point.

Also Michael Crichton's bibliography in the back of the book gives quite a few references to read up on. Pretty crazy stuff.
