not surprising given glenn beck's audience. mccain is perceived as a republicrat by moderate to hardcore conservatives

Yeah, I was pretty surprised as well.

Correct, I'm not a big fan of GW any more. However there is a very large group of people that dislike mccain even more.

I'm not a big fan of mccain either, however....

I think he is by far the most centered in terms of the choices. While I don't agree with some of his policies, I think he'll be the best choice for the country. Obama doesn't sit right with me (I'm sure that's a surprise to a big portion of people here  ). He's so far left, that he won't bring the country together, it's the pendulum swinging the opposite way now, not that bush was all that conservative in the recent years.

To give you an idea of my issues:

-Gun control (obama isn't a fan of guns, any of them, nor does he understand the 2nd amendment, at all)
-economy (we're in trouble, no question there, how does socializing health insurance solve this? How does preventing our country from utilizing its OWN natural resources (nuclear, oil, the readily available ones that PRODUCE energy) solve this?
-Taxes (I'm fully understanding of why we have taxes, however, there is a point at which the gov. needs to be responsible with them and not just increase taxes because of their carelessness)

I could go on, but I'll cut it short right now.

You hit most of my biggest problems with him on the head.

Did you know that his "43 million people without health care" that he says his plan would help INCLUDES illegal aliens?!? He wants to give any person who makes it across the joke we call a patrolled boarder FREE health care!!! [Howard Dean Scream!]

I'm not interested in my taxes going for that. If he gets his way, I'd rather find my own illegal alien and take them to the Dr. office and pay for it, at least I'd keep the governments hands off more of my money.

I think the root of his problem is that he doesn't believe in the free market. If HE can't tell someone what to do with their private property, then the world will come to a screeching halt.

Anyway, I better stop here. :tapedshut:

Did anyone see the latest Jib Jab video? Lol, pretty funny http://sendables.jibjab.com/

Oly, Obama supported the Supreme Court on the 2nd amendment...

Cal, right, I did read that. In fact here's his quote:

"Today's decision reinforces that if we act responsibly, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe."

Sounds fine by me. His voting record doesn't really give me faith in it though. Let's be honest, he's moved towards the center since securing the nod. He's plenty smart enough to know not to say something about how the gun ban in D.C. was constitutional. Not saying that it is how he feels. I still don't have confidence that he understands, well, maybe he understands the 2nd amendment, but whether he really supports it (for the REAL purpose) that is up to question.

I take that link with a grain of salt. However, I still feel that Barack will be much more unfriendly to gun-owners than John.

things i dont agree with the democratic party on...

guns
taxes (tax the wealthy more than the poor, what a bunch of crap)
bitch and moan but dont push anything through because they are more interested in fighting the republicans than actually getting anything done
and numerous other issues, but i figure i just pissed off enough people on this board for one post.

flame on!

Haha, don't worry Kyle, we've have plenty debates before about politics, it's healthy to have your beliefs questioned and then have to defend them.

I'm not happy with either party right now. Obviously not with the democrats because most of my principles do not revolve around their party. However, the repubs have been sucking big time as well. They have done anything BUT create a smaller government, on top of that their spending has been making me pull my hair out!

Neither party is really willing to extend their hands and try to come to a solution. And believe it or not, I'd like to see this a lot more.

While I may not agree with a good portion of the liberal ideas, I think that the solution for this nation is to be ABLE to unite. Work together to solve issues.

I'm against gun control, but I'm willing to work together to come up with laws that the majority can agree on. I'm not hearing many important political figures speak like this.

Same goes for energy. Listen, forget any global warming exists/doesn't exist BS for now. We NEED to find alternatives and we need to start doing it now. However, I feel it's a bit naive to think that we shouldn't utilize our resources (nuclear, oil, coal, etc) that we have the technology for now. Take a look at oil prices over the last few days since the executive order from Bush and then when congress couldn't get the vote.

Is drilling off our coast the solution, no way. However, it's a start to alleviate one of the many problems with our economy so we can more easily focus on researching alternative forms of energy.

haha, thanks oly.

i never understood why we quit making new nuclear power plants, was it three mile island that caused that? is it china or someplace that has plans to build up to 30 new nuke plants in the next 20 years? i agree we need to forget about all the global warming crap for right now and focus on sustaining our economy for right now and creating the infastructure and demand for alternate fuels now.

in my personal view ( i know this prob. doesnt flow with some) i think the planet is already toast, and for the past 40 years the future for mankind has been space (hopefully china will start flexing its muscles for a new space race so we can develop new technology in the area)

I could never vote for a Socialist regardless of how sophisticated his speech and demeanor. Mr Obama will lead us more quickly toward a socialist utopia than anyone else. Socialism is unsustainable given human nature. This is evidenced by those who promote it and those who accept it.
