Have you forgotten you Alphabet sir?

Do I smell the scent of a 2wd-->4wd conversion going on and not a single thread or photo to show it?

I posted a pic of it. Just because I post elsewhere doesn't mean it was a bad thing. Yes, I did the 2wd A340E to 4wd R150F, some engine work, etc and it has a little over 5000 miles on it all now. Look over in the calendar thread.

Jokes aside, it's funny that you bumped that post because my final step tomorrow for a job is the pee test, they pretty much called all of my references and i passed the b/g check with flying colors. It's for a Service Advisor position in a big dealership chain. :D

R-ealistically, this probably won't work out due to my class schedule... but I got a call from Coca-Cola today about a seasonal warehouse position. I'm sure it pays a little less than my last job, but I need to make sure I get a job ASAP. So I'm not going to be too picky.

Telephone interview went pretty well.. The man said they'll be calling the people they want to bring in for an interview on Monday & Tuesday.. to give him a call around 2pm on Monday if I haven't heard from him yet. Will be a $2.44/hr pay cut. HOWEVER, they do have a 1st Shift position available.. which will be good because I have classes 6-10pm 3 days a week.

Obi..

U are not gonna believe this one guys and gal..places actually still use hair for drug screenings, maybe I shouldn't have gotten a haircut today for the final bit? Has to be from the head..

Totally was thinking it was gong to be piss test like all the other one's I have had to do for corp's in the past.

Wow, just wow, I wonder if they'll follow through on the pee test option request I made? Hope I didn't blow this by telling the guy this was stupid and I did subtly offer hair, just not from my scalp. I worded the offer so carefully while containing my laughter.

Leg hair, whatever, let's get this done? The receptionist-tech almost looked insulted but her being a jerk from the start warranted a worse reply from me and I resisted. I even offered a blood sample if they needed it that badly..LOL.

Obi..

http://lolfed.com/wp-content/uploads/borat-very-nice.jpg
Me, I'd wait on that offer and negotiate, it should be better, rent and gas, etc are not going to get any cheaper out here. Really weigh that into the equation b/c at the end of the year that $5,000-ish is 2 months rent or 6 months of food, etc for a growing family.

Y-ou beat me to it, DHC6!

X-ylosma's are neat.

It's only a seasonal warehouse position, no biggie. I'll be getting 40hours/week on 1st shift.. VS 30hours/week on 2nd shift working 4 days at my old job(had to be on a 4day schedule to not conflict with school). Also if I work there for the entire time(through Sept.) I get a bonus for every hour worked (not much I'm sure, but it should narrow the gap some).

Pssshhhhhh.. I think all of us here are cool enough to start our own word usage now.

My vote's for "tile" or "tiled". As in, style, styled, lined up clean and smooth, like a sick line, or set of tracks down a trail..laid out and done in an impressive manner. Like a well tailored suit has a certain je nes se quoi, something done well like a tiled entrance can make all the difference in the world.

Besides, in a way it fits one of our members to a t, and I'm sure Stover will be all over it, using it to describe how a set of waves is just stacked out along the horizon coming in..

"Check out those waves man, tiled, just tiled." :D

What say you all? My only concern is it rips on "dialed".. :P

Very much a no-go on that. New job has us transporting them (quit the dealership b/c of drama and someone lying* to me about our pay versus what I saw.) I'll have to get you all a picture of my International Flatbed Transport I just got the keys for, diesel, 5 speed, etc. Tons of fun! :D

:D The Prado's are shipped here from Japan for up-fit for a foreign government's tracking function. All pretty much a SR-5 spec in build, fabric seat upholstery, etc. Very nice compared to all the foof of the Lexus. (That's all I can safely discuss and I'll see if they let me get more with the next batch as long as it doesn't jeopardize our account or my job. There's other cool Toyota related stuff too, I just wish I could share it with all of ya.)

*A lie per definition can include a deliberate omission or failure to fully disclose a correction. Last I checked I don't work for $8/hour with my background..what a bunch of bullshit. Man, it feels good to have a dog again - been over 2 years
The sand color is from some PlastiKote paint that I got at home depot (good adhesion even though I didn't do any surface prep), then I went over it lightly with a propane torch to "brown" the paint into those stripes :P
(think I should have gone with Rustoleum "Hammered" instead?)

FYI, there's a surprising number of variations in this breed's coloration

They got it right. This article is so full of win, I don't know where to start

http://www.ihatethemedia.com/a-simple-way-to-stop-westboro-baptist-church-funeral-protesters

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

If you were me and knew of a truck very similar to the red one that was reported stolen from Oregon, but couldn't find the thread about the information on it would you pull the plate info from it and (while screenshotting the info and the person's flickr account who took it since it said they're both in Pace, Florida) call a buddy in law enforcement in Oregon up to run a vin search on the one and another buddy in California to run the other?

I find it both odd and suspicious that two 1st gen pickups both matching recent thefts would show up in the same area like that.

As for the motor cycle cop's pulling you over, good luck with that one, I know him and he witnessed everything and not only got my version of what happened, but it was mirrored by the other three witnesses.

My new project car, a 1967 Squareback is taking up all my time! Saying it needs a bit of work is huge understatement! When I got it...
-the engine would start without starting fluid or idle
-the transmission leaked like crazy, one torn swing axle CV and rear wheel seal
-broken passenger side mirror
-seized front passenger caliper
-brake lights don't work
-turn signals don't work
-radio doesn't work
-AC and heater doesn't work
-slipping clutch

It'll be a fun project! Thankfully I got it for free or I would have just walked away.

Check your local area and state's regions for estate auctions. A lot of times someone's passed away and their heirs dispute things or they owe money to say a credit card company. Things get stuck in probate a lot of times, sometimes for 7-10 years and I've seen easily 3 nicely kept Toyota's come off the blocks being in pristine condition since they're stored in climate controlled holding to protect all of the deceased's property.

ie: Louisville, KY.. http://www.beckortauctions.com/index.php?subp=1&sct=&pg=ap&pid=22098&ap_sub=det&det=1

This this is just Honda's mistake before they actually made a good CRV...
Just sayin, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the first gen CR-V. Easily able to go 300k miles with just mild preventative maintenance.

Lol Are we sure where talking about the same gen CR-V?
The 97-01 CR-V with the B20 engine with the horrible head thats notorious for burning vavle guys and requiring machine work or a new head, that Gen CR-V?

Man, a few of us in the local Toyota community got duped, please help us out, here's the post I made for ih8mud.

Viperghd and I saw this ad around the same time for a local 4Runner being parted out since he's on the hunt for parts. Both of us without knowing the other had seen it left our numbers to ask about checking it out. Around 10-30 minutes later we both started getting hit w/ solicitation calls for travel arrangements, you won a trip give us your info, etc-etc. All of this for me was about three weeks ago and I stopped it by pulling an ace out of my sleeve and saying "You just reached the district's office for the sheriff, it's a private line, what did you need?" but apparently Viper has just found out this is happening and told me.

So, here's the ad, the #'s (925)565-3724 . Give them a call but first block your # so they can't harass you, or leave it so you can have some more fun when they call you back. I believe it's b/c someone has a job as a salesperson w/ a minimum # of cold calls or contacts needed to keep their pay, but this is just shady b/c they can then also sell off your # and info, not to mention if someone is stupid enough to give a credit card, etc they're screwed. What should've caught my eye first was the 925 # being it's in the 510 area code, but initially I gave it the benefit of the doubt knowing after a recent move I've kept an old # for a while before getting a local one.

I've blocked the ad's every other day since but they keep popping up and craigslist is doing nothing to stop it.

So, please fellow 'Mud members, please on our behalf, please give them a call, give them a few calls, give them a call at 3pm, give them a call at 3am, hell give them a call at 6:13am while you're on the shitter and share what you're up to and how it helps you shop for Toyota parts having your bowls cleared at the same time, or how you have tourettes and have to cry out ass-turn every third or fourth word and it turns your significant other on and made them horny in your 4Runner and you need new parts to clear off the love stains from the fold down rear cargo seats.. :D

Let the fun ensue!

No need to worry about blocking a number if you use GMail. You can call people using Google Voice from within GMail. By default it's just a number they can't call you back on. Can have some fun with that..

quite right we are talking about the same gen.. i used to have a 97 (that only had issues because i didnt take care of it). With proper maintenance they are really realiable. There is nothing wrong with the b20, other than it needs its valves adjusted every 30-40k miles. Otherwise very stout engine. Granted, yes, if you neglect to adjust the valves that often, you WILL have your exhaust valves tighten themselves into the pistons :P

Lol Are we sure where talking about the same gen CR-V?

Sure, when you put it that way it makes sense. Same reason on the 3.0 you need to adjust the valves, unless you want them frozen into the head.

Zee news is nothing for work w/ Toyota*.. so it looks like I'm-a-gonna have to sellout for really low pay and go back into a management program w/ a large retailer. I have my final interview tomorrow and if I do this it'll be in a part of the program/division where I should at least be able to get credits towards my teaching Credential for it being Automotives (Transportation Primary Credential..I need to fill in my requisite experience hours).

*It seems the local dealerships had to switch all their crews from 4 ten hour day shifts to 5 ten hour shifts and lay off easily 5 guys for each location. :screwy: Too bad I can't move to Portland, I'd be down the street from Keith at either a great bike shop, bike part manufacturing house, or dealership. Did you check both the pivot spring assembly and the upper long spring assembly? Besides the obvious bad clutch master/lines and/or main pivot spring and collars, the long-springs shoot loose on the 3rd-Gens all the time. People can't figure out where the long-spring goes b/c they see the pivot spring assembly's intact, things are working, so they just throw them out. Let me find you a pic from my setup for reference. I'll throw in some writing to hopefully show what causes this to happen. :) Yes, my pedal assembly's out of a '98, like the stamp says.

Dan I had an 00' do this to me at work.
We replaced the spring, clutch pedal arm, and the little white bushing that the spring seats itself in on the pedal arm.
What happens is that little white bushing wears out and goes by by, then the spring starts digging itself into the clutch pedal arm.
After we replaced it all was well again,
but when it was bad it would sometimes just fall slowly down on its own or go down and stay down on its own

Picture in the 2nd post is a loose nut on the EGR pipe.

Obi..
07-24-2011, 07:30 PM
That is correct sir. I blew out the stabilizer dinking around at Hollister last week and then the egr collar somehow works it's way loose yesterday. Didn't even see it but knew something was up b/c my idle and acceleration got funny. Hooking up the vacuum gauge on the right manifold port and having my wife rev the engine I first thought I blew a plug, then I see it rattling around. Checked things and tightened it back up. I'm going to go grab some anti sieze tomorrow, loosen it back up clean things and properly retorque it and see if it happens again (Thorley Part).

Causality.

I'm just playing with the idea right now is all. Right after the accident I had an offer for $9200 on it, but I am still attached to it. We'll see what plays out and what people are willing to consider price wise because you can get a 97+ for about $1500 less, with of course, a lot of work to bring it up to where mine is now.

The idea of using it less as a daily driver and just getting a Corolla or Camry as a commuter instead is on the list also. (Benefit of living less than a mile from my wife's work is we don't drive or really "need" two vehicles.)

Now do a little "Happy Dance Jig" and raise a beer in my honor.
