Well I ran a conpression test over the weekend, and the results dont look pretty at all.

Back
150-( ) ( )-188
170-( ) ( )-130
190-( ) ( )-120
Front

My tests were a tad inconsistant though, so Ill be taking it to a shop close to me to have another test done to compare to and let alone have them tell me what is fudged up.

Im not sure if it was the S/C put on at the high milage, or installing the URD kit being so inconsistant itself.

Im really bummed right now and stuck in a delema, Do I go forth with a rebuild since the truck is paid off for?? Or do I try and trade it in for a newer vehicle??????

If someone has had their 3.4 rebuilt at a trustworthy shop, can you please share your experiance with that and about a price range it costed to have rebuilt completly??? If I do have it rebuilt, It will go to a race shop of somesort so they can rebuild and tune it with the S/C.

And if I try and trade it in; Ill be looking to get an 05' or newer Tacoma.

I just DONT want the payments :(

Any help or suggestions are welcomed!!!

if a rebuild is too expensive, you could also try to find a good junkyard engine or possibly a jdm import engine

I would go for another engine. Its paid off and a new engine could be paid off a lot quicker than another car note. Plus, i am not sure if would get near the value of your runner on trade in. With so much custom work it would be a shame to see you get screwed out of money.

10-4 with the rest buddy, go for a rebuild or a new engine, and either way you go, I would have a race shop or someone similar prep it, and tune that S/C for you. See if they can anything out of it.

If necessary I would try to get it rebuilt, not sure where. If you wanted a replacement motor I would check out these guys http://www.ranchotoyotatruckparts.com/

Are you sure your compression loss is in the rings ? Did you check to see if it is the valves ?

Im not 100% sure its the rings or the valves, thats why Ill be be taking to to the shop to have them verify what it is for sure. I just know those compressions in the cylinders are not good at all.

Thanks for the info guys, its much appreciated. Keep it coming.

Make sure the shop you take it to does a "leak down test" and tell them you want to know what the readings are. Results will be in % leakdown and (cylinder leakage) and the tech should be able to determine where the air is escaping the cylinder (piston ring, exh valve, int valve, headgasket).

When I get the results, hopefully getting it done by the end of this week, Ill post them and get more suggestions on what I should do, Thanks guys!

Well I finally have an update. Took my truck to a local shop to have them do a leakdown. And let me tell you, my compression test is garbage.... I dont understand how but it is. The lowest compression they got was out of the #4 cylinder and it was at 190. The highest they got was 205 on a couple of them. Not exactually sure which ones, the paperwork is at home. But the rest of them were in the range from 190 to 205.

The leakage was between the ranges of 4-7%.

Now I dont know where to start at now... One thing is though, the URD Split Second FTC is getting yanked out.

Im now wondering if the fuel pressure regulator is bad.

Any ideas anyone?

Any other symptoms for what's ailing your truck?

My gas milage is all over the place, but that because of my driver rear tire goes low fairly quickly and I slack to air it back up. Other than that, still have the same symptoms.

I still havent gotten a chance to take everything off either because im working 6 - 7 days a week right now and my brother is getting married in a week with me being the best man. So hopefully within the next month things will start slowing down for me and Ill be able to dissasemble my rig.
