Don't know how many really care about cycling, but seems that Lance Armstrong is coming back. His first race is the Tour of California. Looking forward to see what he's going to do to the tour.

More power to him. I hope his return isn't as disappointing as Michael Jordan's was...

True. I really can't see anyone up to his level. That is if he still is able up to par. The last tour was soooo sad. Everyone had a chance to win because there were no superstar. Regardless of what happens, a lot of people will get back into cycling.

I'm sorry, he's just a guy who rides a bike. Woohoo welcome back, the first of many welcome backs. I once saw the Rolling Stones on thier farewell tour, 20 years ago !!!!! Not impressed !

Velonews has Johann Bryuneel saying nothings going to happen, as he's not coming back. It'll be interesting considering the riders that are out there right now. Not really counting the tour because that has always been messed up. Lance will have his work cut out for him.

I am more interested in the 24 year old kid fighting brain cancer down the street. He's my hero, and he's doing it without money, or fame. How about the single mom raising four kids on her own. I am not into famous people at all, sure he can ride a bike. With that, I'll leave the praise lance thread alone.

So....
It's cool to watch the strategy, leadership, sportsmanship and bike handling skills Lance has shown. It's also cool to watch when no one team controls a race the way his has.
He's done good for himself and worked to get what he has. He didn't start out rich, famous or from a stable home. Ability, hard work, charisma, and a willingness to listen and learn has done well for him.
Tour of Missouri's going on right now. Anyone keeping up on that?

He was the kid that had nothing and rose against some amazing obstacles to get to where he is. His mom was a single mother and there was no one else around to help out. It really is a rags to riches story. Granted he can be stuck up but I think at that level, you have to in order to have the drive to do what he did. Even if you don't like him as a person, you still have to respect what he has done for cancer research and cycling in general. He's raised more money than anyone else.

That was his old team. He's got to whip some guys into shape and let them know he's the big cheese and they're working for him. Kind of sucks especially since he'll be the old guy and there are some good up and comers.

He is a cocky SOB but when he was in his prime he ruled the field. Like Dave said, you kind of have to be when you're at that level. I think very few people actually know the level at which he was. When on the bike you have your good days and bad days. You could be the best cyclist in the world but you always have your off days.

Yep.
It'll be very interesting to see what Lance does with his new team, what his strategy will be and what role he'll play within the team.
He did recently take 2nd overall in the Leadville 100 though mountain biking's reportedly not his strong suit.
Go old (younger than me) guy!

2nd place at Leadville is amazing. I've read numerous accounts of the race and have talked with people who have done it, a second for Lance behind a pro MOUNTAIN bike racer is awesome.
The ToC starts in Sacramento this year so I'll be out there with the camera to catch Lance. Last time I saw him was at the Grand Prix in SF about 5 years ago.

Hey, I was there at the Grand Prix. I really liked that race. Too bad they ended it. He was very flakey. He only finished once out of all the years he was supposed to race there. Every other year he was too sick or he dropped out.
