There have been some questions about paying the extra $3.00 charge that cafepress tacked on to everything. :chair: I had told everyone to hold off till I received the shirts, as I wanted to make sure that they were good. They arrived and look really good. So, for those that want, you can send the extra $ to the same paypal account (stoveck_one@hotmail.com). I'm already humbled by those that have offered to pay me, and I completely understand those that can't as they might not have even bought one in the first place if they were 3 bucks more.
Also, I may do another order, before the event, if there is any interest. Otherwise, after the jambo, I will have it set up where you can just get them direct from the website.

I updated the schedule some in the first post. I scrapped the night run to Garcia Ridge for Friday night. From our prerun I determined that it takes too long to get out there. Also, since the majority will be arriving that evening, I figured it would be better to stay and "meet and greet" as people arrive. If some still want to do a night run, the dunes are right there and will make for some fun night running.
We also added another contest. The "Can You Believe I Actually Own This Shirt" contest. Wear your funniest, most embarrassing shirt and the group will vote who wins. The winner will receive a (as of now unreleased) Ultimate Yota t-shirt.
Note: You must actually wear it and allow pics to be taken. :king:
Jenn (JnJ) has done a great job getting some stuff together for the kids. These are going to be some lucky kids, by the way. Stay tuned for more info on kids activities.
I will be finalizing the schedule and adding more info to the first post throughout the weekend, so stay tuned.

Safety Information
As always, call 911 first in case of dire health related or safety emergency.
If you have an incident requiring hospitalization, here is a map to the best emergency center in the area, according to my doctor friend who lives in Pismo Beach. The hospital is roughly 5 miles away, but very easy to get to:
Arroyo Grande Hospital
345 S. Halcyon Rd
Arroyo Grande, CA
805-473-7650
http://www.4runners.org/image/pismo/hospital.jpg
Save this as a PDF and print from your printer: http://www.4runners.org/image/pismo/HOSPITAL-PISMO.pdf I highly suggest if you are attending this event, print out a color copy (best) and put a copy in your glove box.
See you guys out there!
Bob
EDIT:
An alternative/quicker, but more twisty route from south entrance:
Head eastbound on Pier Ave
Right on Route 1 (Front St)
Left on Belridge St
Left on 13th St
Right on the Pike
Left on S. Halcyon Rd
Note: This route is not arrow routed nor visible on the PDF map.

Thanks Bob, that looks good.
Just a note for those who haven't been there before: Generally if you were to leave the dunes for an emergency, you will be leaving from the South entrance as this is closest to the camp and offroad area. Just a note so you can study the map before you arrive.

Sweet! You will totally enjoy yourself. All the pertinent info will be in the first post (raffle list is in the second post I believe), that way you don't have to read all the nonsense. I would suggest getting your camping reservation online, so it will be easier when you arrive, especially if you are arriving late Friday night and the kiosk is closed (reservation link is in the first post also).

Quick question. Would you guys say this trip is appropriate for dogs or would it be better to keep them at home?
It depends. How do they do bouncing around in the cruiser? Do they enjoy it? Also, how are they with loud noises, like motorcycle and atv's driving around the camp? Some dogs do just fine.
You've seen our dog, Bruce, we will not be bringing him. He doesn't like the real bumpy rides (he does fine on slow bumpy trails, but not so good on fast bumpy dunes :D), that and he gets freaked out by motorcycles and atv's. He's such a nervous nelly!

Thanks for the info Chris. Don't really know how she handles bouncing around in the cruiser and not sure about all the noise. She's never been on a trip like this before. But if you're not bringing yours, I guess it's better to leave her at home.

All my planning is going for nought.
I have a must do job to do on Friday (12th),another overnighter in Mammoth the following weekend.
The bank ledger is steadily falling.
And it would be another weekend in quite a few not at home and i think i would definitely get into some trouble if i went.
I'll get my banking in order and get you some dollars to ship the T-shirts. Everyone stay safe out there.
I think i am definitely going to shoot for a "Birthday Hollister" trip in Dec now.

I think I'll roll in around 6 or so. If I hit the road at noon and get through LA by 2 that will be cool but I'll hit traffic in Santa Barbara no matter what. Still, I could pull it by 6 if I'm lucky.
The way things go though, I'll leave by 1 and show up at 7.

I brought my two a couple years ago. They loved everything NOT in the truck, but doing things like racing up a dune will launch them from the back of your vehicle to the front, and they DON'T like that at all. It's pretty hard on them. I'm not bringing them to the dunes again. *sniff*

The question has been brought up about firewood. I would suggest bringing some, you probably won't need to bring a bunch, as it won't take too many people bringing wood to keep a good fire going.
The local grocery stores do sell firewood (usually good oak) and there is a company that cruises the beach that sell firewood and drinking water (don't know what their prices are).
Please make sure that the wood you are bringing does not contain any nails! Also, please no painted or stained wood that will give off toxic smoke.

:shake: No! The local weather is telling us that we are at the tail end of this thing and not to expect much. They are even saying that it might not even make it down to Santa Barbara.
If you're not going, I'll take your other reservation, but I would rather you came. It might make it better to get away from down there for a couple days.

I just got back from taking a load out there. We are located just before pole 6. We have a staked out area to park around with bright orange tape and there is a blue pop up shade thingy there right now. Jenn and Justin are there with their motorhome.
Just a few sprinkles so far, nothing major.
I'll be back out in a few hours.

well at least some good news for me on the speeding ticket: ive been reading quite a bit on how to beat these lame tickets and so im filing for a continuance as well as a written statement defending my egregious crime  anyways, i talked with a park ranger to get some info on when i actually entered the park and he could tell i was fighting a ticket. he said not to worry so much b/c these tickets, while recorded on your dmv record (assuming I lose), they do not count as points. i'm going to have to verify w/ my insurance agent if that is true, but i'm pretty confident that he is not yanky my wanky. thats good news b/c i really don't need any more points as i kamikazied my truck into that H3 a few months back.
for those of you who also got a ticket, the infraction number was SLCC and some numbers (dont have the ticket in front of me). if it starts with SLCC, then the above applies to you too.

You don't know how bad I wanted to jump out of the truck and take your photo as I passed by. :tongueout:
Good news though Bob!

officer would've then added 'assault and battery' on the ticket :flipoff:
that park ranger was a real curt SOB. dont get pulled over by a ugly lady cop in pismo. won't even give you a chance to say anything.
