Looks like your friends stinger might be too big.
That's a bummer, at least you're still able to drive home with that trail damage.

it only busted the window. the flares were getting ripped off from trees, the stinger did not claim those. i also blew a tire off the bead on that trail. it was one hell of a day.
i was backing up lookn out the right side since there was a tree, all the time im inching towards his stinger on the left, untill it was to late.

i always told myself i would cut it when i start smashing windows...im probably not gonna cut it yet but you dont know how many times that rear glass and huge ass our trucks have pisses me off on the trails. i was thinkn of cutting it off before i smash it and making that part bolt on and off.

That is a good idea, take a lot on ingenuity but i am sure it can be done.
I can't imagine chopping the top, i am going to have a hard enough time as is cutting a hole in the fender for a snorkel eventually....

i think it can be done relatively easy but i need to take my tool box out of my dealership and bring it into a fab shop. shit is getting old
you think you can make the back half bolt on / off??
what about the hatch??
that glass is REALLY heavy. just get the glass replaced

its getting replaced for now :D
the hard part would be the hatch, but i have been thinkn of ways to make it work. its not impossible
and have you ever taken a 1st gen 4runner top off? its not exactly the lightest and easiest thing to do hahaha.

Its possible, just a lot of work.
You would have to turn the hatch into a tailgate.
well at least the bottom half so it can house the window when rolled down and then from there it should be a little simpler, not much...
I have thought about making a 3rd 1st gen hybrid once i get the fab skills but that wont be years from now

Talk to mossyrocks, before he went ape crap on his 4runner, he had the top cut off so he could bolt it on and off of there..... but then he dropped it off of a forklift.... whoops.

Just do what Lee did with his 3rd gen. He doesn't worry about rear windows breaking.
