Another Noob question... I know the topic of springs/coils has been discussed extensively here.

Is there any way to tell if I have a "good" or "upgraded" set of Toyota Springs?

My 2000 4Runner Sport doesn't have the "sagging" issues like many others... the colors on my springs are as follows:

Front - Pink/Yellow and White/Yellow
Rear - Blue/Yellow on both coils

I'm getting ready to replace the shocks, and I'm trying to figure out if I should also do springs/coils. I normally would... but as far as I can tell, the existing coils seem to be doing their job (no sagging, they look good).

Thoughts? Leaning toward the Bilsteins as a replacement for the stock shocks and keeping the stock springs (or am I just setting myself up for failure down the road?).

Thanks all...

I cant help you with the coil questions, but I'll definitely say go with the bilsteis. I have the 5125 Bilstein gas pressurized shocks on my front end and I love them. I had previously used ranchos and they seemed seemed to fade quickly. If you have a little extra dough get the reservoir shocks

i have 5100 shocks up front, best 250 ive ever spent!

as for the coils. i dont know the stock color codes, but those color codes dont ring a bell for anything aftermarket.

Thanks for the feedback fellas...

Again, being a noob, how widespread is the "sagging coil" issue? I see Runners all the time with the back ends sagging, but mine seems to be holing up ok.

Something I should worry about?
Or did I get a set of "good" springs?
Is the sagging only prevalent in certain model years?

Thanks!

1st and 2nd gens i see more sagging.

i suppose it depends on if over the years the rear was frequently heavily loaded. mine was and sagged. i cant say i see alot of 3rd gens with saggy butts.

Thanks Seanz0rz...

I'm gonna post a pic in this thread tomorrow with what my rear springs and bump stops look like.

You may have gotten a set of the 99 springs on your 00 which would ride a little higher.

All... here are 3 quick pics of my runner. I would appreciate your feedback on what my stock suspension looks like:

Side View - Drive way does slope a bit:

Rear Driver's Side Bump Stop:

Rear Passenger's Side Bump Stop:

After looking at how close the bump stops are to the rear axel, I'm begining to re-think my position that my suspension is not sagging... There isn't much clearance there at all, but I'm not entirely sure what it should look like?

thoughts?

Thanks all...

I'd say that was sagging a little bit but overall quite normal for that year. Don't think you're going to load anything heavy into the cargo area with those springs and not have it sagging quite a bit though. Up to you but many have commented on how new springs make a big difference in how the truck drives.

Thanks Jamie...

I'm in agreement regarding springs... can you suggest something for me?

Not looking to lift this truck, it'll see mostly highway miles. I'm leaning toward the Bilstein shocks as well, just need a good spring to match up with the Bils, I would almost prefer it be a firm spring (roads around here are pretty decent).
