dubai desert safari

i'm in dubai right now, did an amazing desert safari where we basically went insane dune hopping out in a very remote desert area (1 hr out of dubai) then had amazing middle eastern food under the stars... they shut off the lights at the end so you can see the stars and it is truly beautiful.

anyway, the important thing here is that at the end when they were airing up tires, i spotted a brand new landcruiser 200 that was all decked out.

so i hopped out and went over to it and it's a biodiesel desert racing team truck from Toyota Body Shop of Japan!

This thing was sick...

that's great :clap: even professional teams use PVC snorkels . . . I especially like the flex hose so they can open the hood.

That's pretty awesome. Notice the beef plate on the leading edge of the control arm mount. I also see they have all the frame holes taped up - I guess so the frame doesn't fill with sand.

I think that was in Toyota Owner magazine. IIRC it was a Japanese team that was going to try to drive around the world on bio diesel that they made along the way.

The frame has probably been sealed up so it doesn't fill with sand. The tube, who knows. If it were me it would be for my on board pizza oven. A guy gets hungry driving long distances in the desert.
