Stephen (Scuba) and I are planning a trip for Nov. 15th to Cleghorn Ridge. It's a faily easy trail with some harder turn outs.

I know it's short notice, but any interest?

Let me know

That sounds like fun (especially since it's so close to my house). I was thinking about going to Calico that weekend with a friend, but if that falls through or I can convince him to do Cleghorn, then I will definitely join you. Maybe we could all do pizza and beer at my house after the run?

search here, there are a few trail reports from jenn and i. basically every difficult point has a bypass that could be done in a minivan.

10 sounds good. about half way through we can stop and eat lunch, but no cooking unless you have a special adventure pass, they'll ticket you for cooking without a pass. cold sandwiches or MREs it is.

That website I posted mentioned starting out by the lake and ending on the major freeway. I like to start from the freeway and go towards the lake. I'll post GPS coords and more specific directions at a later date.

basically I 15 north, exit cleghorn, turn right. Trailhead! There's gas at the 138 (the next exit).

I've only run this trail from freeway to lake.

Oh, so this is my plan for the 15th and 16th.

Pick up lady friend (if she can still go)....head up there, come back down (escondido area) drop her off and head out to octillo for a camp sesh with a jeep buddy of mine and her family w/ there RV, Sounds like a good weekend to me

There is a Gas station (I think it's a chevron) and a McDonalds right behind it just north of Cleghorn road, pretty much where the I-15 and 138 cross. We should meet there starting at 10:00 and we will roll out 10:30. Be sure to gas up. When we roll out we will get back on the 15 south and get right back off on cleghorn road, then making a left, heading east. there we can air down a little. if the trails are wet we may need to air down more.

Any questions about where we're meeting please let me know. Also message me on here for my cell number.

We will be using CB # 14 and FRS 14 with subchannel of 0 for those that have it

Well walmart has a somewhat decent CB Radio, made by Cobra. And as far as an antenna, I would buy the right stuff to do it right. Dont know if you saw how mine was installed, but I would consider that "done right"

I really appreciate the offer but i think im going to buy a firestick 2, I heard the magnets mounts have the tendency to come off at high highway speeds..

And Jason...
Im looking at: http://www.bellscb.com/products/cbradios/uniden/Uniden_PC-68LTW.htm
I've been told the ones with the built in s/rf meter are the way to go cause you dont have tu buy one seperetly

Thats an option, but an expensive one. I have an SWR meter I keep under my passenger seat at all times along with a test cable. I can tune it for you.

I started out with a magnetic antenna. didnt work perfect but did work for offroading. Never had a problem on the freeway.

Firestick rules though :-)

lol... well short of scuba blowing his EFI fuse and making his truck deadlined, it was fun.

we had to tow him down the hill at 4 mph the whole way. took us 3.5 hours to get down.

fun though, we did some hard trails before he broke down. I might have pictures later
