Head on in once you've voted, tell the barista and get yourself a free drink!!
*For those of us that've voted abscentee, I figure our word should be good enough. :D
**Also, our local Costco has a 5 pack of cards, worth $100 for just $80....yes, we buy a lot of coffee at the shop.
Pick 'em up and use 'em for stocking stuffers??
~I have no affiliation w/ Starbucks, we just hunt them down when there's no Peet's around. ;)

Nope but I do when I run out of gc's :D 100 bucks goes a long way for me since I don't go everyday anymore. I've cut back significantly down to like once a week and even then that's a lot!
caffeine can do a number on your brain ;)

You couldnt pay me to go to starbucks. :gay2:
Occasionally the girlfriend drags me in there to get her a muffin and coffee for breakfast. :coffee: But I always try to support the non-corporate small businesses whenever I can.

You know, once upon a time, Starbucks was just one of those so-called non-corporate small businesses. And people just grew to love them and they expanded.
I know what you're saying b/c my wife and i try to patronize the non-chain stores and restaurants in our area to support the local economy, but you can't be hatin' on a formerly small company for its success. at least that's my view.
but back on topic: i read that starbucks and krispy kreme will get into big trouble from the feds if they go through with this because of prior, very specious efforts by bad people who paid drunk whinos to vote for beer, food, etc. i read it in the LA times or cnn, can't remmber
and agreed with norcal on the local establishments: the three in my area blow. i mean seriously, theyre terrible. my wife is one of those coffeeholic folks who knows how to pick her own green beans, roast them in a homemade roaster, and has quite a detailed chart on beans to water temp to time, all brewed in a vac pot. ive seen none of this in a local place. lots of local places sell bagged and ground coffees too. sacrilege!

I know what you mean about Starbucks being a small non-corporate business at one time, I'm sure wal-mart was a small business at one time too. They did something right, people loved it. It exploded, became corporately owned, and is now putting all the other small non-corporate coffeehouses out of business. Maybe that's just the way things work in the business world. Maybe I would have done the same thing, I don't know. I guess its dog eat dog out there.
I think I'm very sympathetic toward small businesses because I work for one now, and have dreams of starting my own some day.
One thing I hate about Starbucks is how they're everywhere. Not just in deep suburbia, but also in the small mountain towns, right across from the original local establishment. Of course, most people driving through looking for something warm see it and say "Starbucks, I know that place, lets go there." That's why the local ones die. :chair:
Thats cool that your wife is so into coffee like that and does all her own stuff too. My dad does that. Tell your wife I think she should start an independent coffee house with the same pride and care that goes into her own coffee. I would start drinkin the stuff just to support the effort.
Ok, that kinda ended up being more of rant than anything else. But I'm just board and tired with nothign else to do than vent on starbucks.
Mikey should chime in here, he hates the place even more than I do. :hillbill:

Shoot, I'd wish she'd do the same! she wanted to open a knitting/crafting store on one side and a coffee bar on the other. i think the coffee side woudl do better :)
