Ive seen some write-ups, and well we final got to mine. (Thankx for the help Glen)
Heres what I started with:

Note the bulb just sort of there, lol well some of you may remember back when I had the motorcycle signals there, well they kept getting busted when snow bashing, lol.
So I thought we could just swap the wireing with the side makers. Key work there is "thought"
I didnt feel like re-drilling the hole on the back of the sidemakers.
So we cut the wires, tapped the Turn signal wires to the Side Marker housing.
That didnt work.

What we ended up doing is, put the turn signal to the Side Maker housing, then we had to tap the turn signal housing onto the Side Makers complete the circuit.

The bulb is just an Amber Side Maker bulb, so its only on, when I use the signal.
If you look at the last picture, you should notice that the Right turn signal is on, and the Left has NO light.
This was not meant to be a "write-up" as there are many already on the net.

heres a great idea grind out your side maker to take a 1157 style bulb now you got both a running light and a bright turn signal

I seen that, but tell me how your going to change a bulb when it burns out :headscratch:
The way I did it, its like stock, just turn and pull, replace bulb. to reinstall, just turn and push, lol
Ive seen others do it very much like that, but I didnt feel like cutting off the drain tube/vent thingy, lol

Not just that, but the risk of cracking the plastic, or too much heat from running a dual set-up. ;)
FWIW..those clip in style mounts pop in and out, again, at the risk of possibly cracking the housing.

Awwwwww good point.

AND, thats on a Tacoma, not a 4Runner, the signals are different.. atleast mine are, mine are ALOT skinnier, more narrow than the one in that write-up, would make it VERY tight, almost impossable, still doable though

I have the trailer light setup in my corners since I also run an aftermarket bumper on my Tacoma, and I have no heat issues, FYI. Changing the bulb is kinda messy because of all the RTV that holds my light in.

I used one of the following when I did mine on my previous 4Runner:

The corner light are hooked up as the trailer lights, you're running lights as brake lights and signals obviously to the signal wires. That way I didn't have to change the housing at all.

It started flashing like a bulb was burned out, and I replaced the flasher relay with an heavy duty one ($8,-). Fixed that also.
I also used a higher wattage bulb to make the signals more visible. It fit in the same socket.

My turn signals have also had problems, but it was a result of either a poor splice on my part or a poor ground connection to the bulb.

if you want your running lights to still work cut the ground wire and ground that somewhere then take the ground wire from the back of the plug and tie that into the turn signal wire .... i did that to my truck now the corner lights flash
