Went out to Calico last weekend with a friend from my off road suspension class. Got to wheel with a great group of people. We went up Odessa Canyon and down Doran. The rain storms over the summer changed the trail a bit. Some areas were harder while some were easier. I had a great time. My truck did great and I got to ride in bad ass rock buggy.

Anyway...on to the pics...

Pretty much stock runner...only had a rear locker. He did great.

The second obstacle on Odessa was a little harder than the last time I was there, but not extreme by any means.

is it possible to get to the gatekeeper to watch? seemed like a lot of spectators and trucks below. it looks like half as much fun just watching people smash there way through there!

Yeah you can drive right up to the Gatekeeper and watch. There is a huge wash that you can park in. This was the first time I've seen someone actually going up that waterfall. Usually you just come across a broken vehicle that has been left in there while the owner goes into Barstow to get parts. Hahaha

By the way...I just noticed you are from Victorville...where abouts? I live in Hesperia (near Main and Maple). We should meet up and go wheeling sometime. I go just about every weekend.

Awesome Jenn! I've heard so much about that place, I'd love to hit it up sometime. I like how that one trail still has pavement on the side.

If you are trying to make us jealous, it worked.

Great pictures and videos, thanks for sharing.

I haven't actually been in Bismark mine yet. Thought about going in with some of the others, but decided not to. I'll have to check it out sometime.

If you are interested, there are some mines on the Heartbreak Ridge trail up in Big Bear. You might want to check that area out soon as there has been talk of shutting that trail down.

You probably would have done fine on Doran with some tugging and rock stacking. And yes, Gatekeeper is definitely worth stopping at just to watch the action.

heck yea you should go check them out. ive seen dangerous things in mines but if your not 15 years old and drinking...its pretty obvious not to trust your life on 100 year old wood lol. id be more scared going into LA:)

i looked at heartbreak ridge. it looks pretty wild for a solo trip so i think were going to stick to the known territory of calico till theres a group headed up that way. thanks for the tip though! ive been wanting to find more mines in the wooded areas. Bighorn mine above wrightwood was great!

edit. hmmm it actualy looks like you can get up in there pretty far on fire roads?

So jealous . . . the best I've found so far are power lines (trespassing, no good) and fireroads which aren't even worth the gas (even if it is down to $1.95 :flipoff:)
