View Full Version : Do you know how to properly tie your shoes... I thought I did

It's been awhile since I've learned something that got me this excited. I started running when I was 12 and been doing it off and on since then. I've always had issues with my shoe lace getting undone. Sometimes even with double knotting it. Anyway, I saw this video on Runners World that shows how to properly tie your shoes. I've always been told it's because I have cheap shoe laces. Anyway, it may not be that exciting to you (pun not intended). But for me, I feel great that my shoes won't untie any more.

what if we're still stuck in the 5th grade and do the "bunny ears" method? lol

I started running when I was 12 and been doing it off and on since then.

Even though I started running right after I learned how to walk ( :flipoff:) I tie my shoes different all the time. For the most part it is the reef knot. For many years I'd tie my shoes when they were new and just slip them on and off. Now I've got some Salomons with a pull tie shoe lace system and I like it, quick and easy.

Oh common, this is life changing. I can't tell you how frustrated I get with shoe laces getting untied. At least 4 to 5 times a day.

I prefer the slip on method. Get them tied once then never bother with it again.

that may work for running shoes that you wear casually but try running with shoes that are flopping around or that have broken heels (from slipping them on and off so much) or huntin in the cold with boots so loose you can slip em off

No double knots for me. I wrap the shoe lace around the other loop twice, rather than once. My laces never come loose without my permission.

I gotta try that. Thanks for the tip. I can't believe this thread is still going. Who knew :headscratch:

Obvisouly it's important enough for some one to set up a camera and record themselves tieing a shoe and then uploading it to the interweb for the whole world to see. We're all just little pawns in this little game.

I never ever had issues, my shoes never come untied easily either.

I do the bunny ear method but double or tripple knot them. They wont come undone without me doing it. I used to run track, this method always worked.
